Opened in 1919 in the heart of Denver, the park is the winter stage for Denver's municipal Christmas lights and the summer stage for the People's Fair, Taste of Colorado and many other events. The park is anchored on the east by the State Capitol and on the west by the City-County Building. The Colorado History Museum, the Denver Public Library and the Denver Art Museum are also nearby.
