Editorial Review for Deer Creek Canyon Bike Trail – by
The Trail
The Plymouth Creek Trail has a killer climb midway that eases up as you rise out of the scrub oak into dense pines. The Red Mesa Loop requires more climbing but you'll be rewarded with great views of the South Denver area and the Hogback. Warm up with a series of short climbs just beyond Plymouth Creek before the trail flattens as it approaches the Meadowlark Trail.
The Experience
Here begins the steep section which, combined with loose surfaces, makes it a hike-a-bike for most riders. The trail veers right at its junction with the Plymouth Mountain Trail and widens until you reach the narrower Red Mesa Loop Trail. Head north past the Golden Eagle hiking trail turnoff, then climb steadily westward through the pines. After a sharp left, you'll reach the apex of the ride. Begin descending and reconnect all too soon with the Plymouth Creek Trail.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasBikes are permitted on the Plymouth Mountain Trail, so give this steep ride a whirl sometime. The view from the peak top is great.
