Editorial Review for Green Mountain Park Bike Trail – by Michael Childers

The Appeal
Circling around the southern edge of Green Mountain, downtown Denver appears on the horizon like the City of Oz. Hidden in the folds of the mountain, several buffed-out single tracks offer rewarding exploration with fun rollers, ripping descents and long climbs. Green Mountain will never be mistaken for a World Cup course, but that's part of its appeal. All levels of riders can enjoy these smooth trails.

The Experience
With the skyline of the city to the east, Table Mesa to the north, Pikes Peak to the south and the entire Continental Divide to the west, rides take on a surreal quality as the scenery constantly changes while you ride around the mountain. Don't be afraid to explore--numerous great trails dive in and out of the mountain's creases. Hikers and runners use the trails too, so make sure you're conscious of everyone sharing Green Mountain with you.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Need some solitude with nature? It's amazingly located right off Alameda - and if you didn't know what it was - you'd drive right by it! Green Mountain Park would appear to have 2 main parking areas off of Alameda and the from those trail heads, you start the gentle climb up . In no time, you can look back on the Denver skyline - it's beautiful! If you following the trail up, you can see the exposed rock formations in the Ken Carl Ranch area - what a delight! I got a great workout without realizing it (the best kind!) and a great view of my hometown. An added bonus, the trail is wide enough for hikers, runners and bikers alike. Enjoy!
