Before you claim your bags at DIA, take in this colorful map of America's oddest roadside attractions..
Are We There Yet?
Besides being a baggage carrier for Continental Airlines at Denver International Airport, Gary Sweeney is
also the creator of the patriotic map of America that greets travelers as they head to baggage claim. Back in the early '60s, the Sweeney family vacations included fewer trips to Disneyland and more car rides to unusual landmarks--such as the largest ball of twine, the Accountant's Hall of Fame, and the cheerleading capital of the nation. These jaunts inspired Gary Sweeney to erect an ode to the family vacation in the spot where many folks begin their holidays.
More From the Artist
Sweeney's work has been displayed in Denver's Pirate Art Gallery, Rule Modern and Contemporary Gallery and on the 16th Street Mall, as well as throughout the country and in Europe.
