Bad attitude at the counter, bland food, and expensive. They also charge EXTRA for brown rice.

Not the same place it used to be...

Friendly and Good Japanese Cuisine. The food is good and is very reasonably priced. Walk up the hill on your lunch hour or go in the evening, park in the lot on the north side of the building, order their veggie tempura, salmon and some saki and enjoy the experience.

Denvers' Most Inexpensive Japanese Food. Customer Service is much improved, they have some fresh faces. Friendlier staff, even if mostly japanese. Looks like they did some Remodeling, & free parking after 3pm. Same menu, still economical pricing, even if prices have been slightly raised. After reading other reviews, looks like the korean grandma doesn't work there anymore.

The reason for the recent negative reviews. I've noticed a few negative reviews lately for Taki's - and I think I have the answer - the owner of Taki's passed away about six months ago - the "brusque" woman who keeps getting mentioned is NOT the owner. The restaurant is currently being managed by a holding group until the new owners take possession. Until then it's sort of on auto pilot. Give it a try after the new owners get hold of it.

Taki's Customer Service HORRIBLE. I have been going to Taki's for years. Ever since the little unhappy grandma started taking orders, I have tolerated her rude and hostile behavior. But today is the LAST day I will ever go in there. I will make sure everyone I know hears about my experience. She took my order and gave me something I did not order. Then asked me if I wanted sauce on it, and just as I was going to ask a simple question of "what kind of sauce?" she interrupted me and yelled, "JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!" She is the worst part of the dining experience at Taki's, which is very unfortunate. Especially when you are on your lunch "break" away from the work madness. Who needs it?

downhill big time. I used to be a regular at Taki's but I've been there for the last time. Before the counter help even took my order she pointed to the tip jar. The veggies in my udon consisted for iceberg lettuce - that's it. Sadly, I can no longer recommend the place - too bad.

Worst meal in a long time. I made the mistake of going to Taki's for a quick dinner tonight. I used to go about 4 years ago, when I remember it being better.

My meal was hardly edible - lots of wilted or past-ripe vegetables in my tempura. The miso soup had limp bits of lettuce (not even seaweed), and they've stopped serving sushi. Hopefully they'll stop serving anything (ie - close down) soon with any luck.

Save yourself the bad experience and walk a block down to Tokyo Joe's if you want something similar.

The owner needs a lesson in good customer service. I frequented this place quite a bit my senior year in college while I interned close by. I couldn't wait to take my teenage mentee to experience something new. The food was great. The service by the owner? Not so great. My mentee was working on a service learning project and left her poster on an unused table to do some work on it while we ate. The owner walked by and politely inquired of the poster. She actually stopped and talked about the project with my mentee. About 30 minutes later, the owner decided the poster was a nuisance. (Might I add we were one of 5 groups in the restaurant, so seating was not an issue.) Instead of asking us to move the poster, the owner took a passive aggressive approach by walking by our table and, without stopping, said "Move your poster. This is not your home; it's a place of business." When I tried to politely talk with her about asking us to move it in an acceptable way, she walked away. Apparently this place is so popular, she doesn't need any more regular customers. When I informed her I would no longer spend my money there, she said she didn't care. So, great food, great price, but I won't go there and support a business that has a stick up their cavity. I?ve always received great customer service at Kokoro?s.

My last supper? TAKI'S!. What a goldmine. I have been going to Taki's since it was across the street and it has been the BEST food for over 20 years. A perfect combination of efficiency, quirkiness, healthy, and delicious. The seafood is amazing, very good sushi, wonderful tempura and sauces that make me weak with pleasure. A varied and changing menu offers something for everyone, even my misguided friends who think they don't like Japanese food.

Possibly my favorite place to eat on earth. I really miss this place. I no longer live in Denver and this is the place I miss the most. The tempura is so freaking fantastic. It might not be as lightly fried as a lot of japanese restaurants but it is so so good. The yakisoba is great. The flu killer soup is not only delicious it really does make you feel better when you're under the weather. I have ate at Taki's no less then 200 times, often eating it for a week straight, every day. I can honestly say I never had a bad meal or a bad experience there.

It is true they don't give you a knife to cut your veggies. So if you need a knife to cut your veggies you should either go to your mommies house or bring your own.
