What People Are Saying About Taki's

In Short – Situated at the prime lunch location of Grant Street and Colfax Avenue, this small restaurant packs in the crowds. Large windows bathe the spacious interior with light and offer a view of the bustle outside. Although customers order at the counter, the swift, friendly service defies the fast-food production-line feel. Taki's caters to the health-conscious, offering plates of rice, ginger and vegetables to accompany main dishes. Favorites include teriyaki chicken, crispy tempura and noodle dishes.
The reason for the recent negative reviews
by DVan
I've noticed a few negative reviews lately for Taki's - and I think I have the answer - the owner of Taki's passed away about six months ago - the "brusque" woman who keeps getting mentioned is NOT the owner. The restaurant is currently being managed by a holding group until the new owners take possession. Until then it's sort of on auto pilot. Give it a try after the new owners get hold of it.
- Pros: It'll be better when the dust clears
- Cons: Currently is in flux
Taki's Customer Service HORRIBLE

I have been going to Taki's for years. Ever since the little unhappy grandma started taking orders, I have tolerated her rude and hostile behavior. But today is the LAST day I will ever go in there. I will make sure everyone I know hears about my experience. She took my order and gave me something I did not order. Then asked me if I wanted sauce on it, and just as I was going to ask a simple question of "what kind of sauce?" she interrupted me and yelled, "JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!" She is the worst part of the dining experience at Taki's, which is very unfortunate. Especially when you are on your lunch "break" away from the work madness. Who needs it?
- Pros: convenient
- Cons: hot inside on warm days:rude service; food is not always up to par
downhill big time
by uncledave
I used to be a regular at Taki's but I've been there for the last time. Before the counter help even took my order she pointed to the tip jar. The veggies in my udon consisted for iceberg lettuce - that's it. Sadly, I can no longer recommend the place - too bad.
- Pros: none any more
- Cons: food and service
