Lovely staple being remodeled... Can't wait!!!. The Funky Buddha has always been home to a fun, good looking staff, ranging from a low key lounge to a packed pseudo club. I have been going there for a while and have had a range of experiences all of which have been wonderful. As a single woman, it is not overly intimidating and when there is no hot men to talk to there are always the bartenders! They have a new back patio now and looks as though remodeling! Can't wait and hope in maintains that trendy 'cheers' atmosphere. Try the mojitos! A little $$$ and more of a destination place but always worth stopping in for a drink and a cigarette (you can smoke upstairs)!
I thought this place would be classy. I've always heard good things about this place. So, I was excited when a friend suggested going there on a Saturday night. The bar had a nice rooftop patio and ambience without having to deal with Lodo. Unfortunately, the patrons of this place are mostly upper 20s-30s something losers who must stay home all week trying to look cool on Myspace and then come here as their only chance to get out of the house. Additionally it's about 75% guys and 25% girls. It's a shame because this place has a lot of potential. They just need to find some classy patrons and more hot women.
Great Service.
I just moved here from Florida and went to Funky Buddha because a lot of ppl recommended it! All I heard about it was right. The place is super nice, has a great patio, really good drinks and great service. I will definitly come back!! Oh and for the ladie that wrote the review below mine....I was there that same day and got to be a witness of what happened. I dont think you should go out to get wasted, scare other customers with your rude attitude and specialy you should never think its ok to lay and sleep on a public bar. The staff handle the situation way better than any other place would have done it!!
Cheers to The Buddha!!!!!
don't go. What happened? I visited this club in 2006 and had a very nice experience. Last Friday, June 8, 2007 I went into happy hour alone. I had barely gotten relaxed when the waitress and manager verbally attacked me. The manager yelled at me to get out and called the police. I wasn't bothering anyone. I am single woman and I had just gotten off of work and wanted to relax at happy hour. This is not a safe or nice place to go anymore.
This South of Colfax club is so trendy, it's like being transported to Hollywood or South Beach..
In Short
The owners of the Church and Vinyl turned another dive into a hot spot with as much faux fur and leather pants as you can pack into a joint without the paparazzi showing up. Built on the ashes of Romansito's, the Buddha features sleek high-backed booths and minimalist furniture. The DJs spin house and hip-hop and the bartenders work overtime. Drink prices are still less than in L.A., and the people are almost as pretty.
Good! Stay away!!!. I like this place. If you all went there, I probably wouldn't. I've never gotten bad service. It wasn't crowded or too bright, so I LOVE it! I'll single-handedly keep the place open if I have to, heh-heh!!!!
Funky Lounge. I don't go to a lounge for deep intimate conversatio, or to get blasted, so FB works excellent for me. We get out of LoDo, the decor and art is excellent, the waitresses are of course, sexy, and there is eye candy in abundance. Drinks are $$$, but that is to be expected from a lounge.
Horrible. Expensive! Crowd is made up of wealthy yuppies who are rude and uninviting. Mostly people in there mid 30's and up.
Overhyped. If you're really into bars where you have to elbow your way through the crowd to move anywhere and where you are surrounded by people "making the scene" rather than enjoying a good cocktail, Funky Buddha is for you. But count me out. Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm getting more wise. Either way, I don't understand what the big deal is about this bar. It's overcrowded, overpriced and overhyped. The only positive thing I have to say about Buddha is that the decore is really quite nice. But how can you enjoy an atmosphere that's jam packed with loud, trendy singles? Give me a bar with a minimal crowd, a good cocktail and jazz music any day. Hmmm... sounds like Dazzle .....
Great Birthday!. Went there for my (very old 41!) birthday - we were very well treated - even after the rowdiness increased somewhat - Jaeger and RedBull depth charges are the BEST! Thanks to Chris on the door for his assistance with the guy who broke my cellphone!
