In Short – With big windows, black accents, wood floors and great lighting, Hapa has a high-tech feel. Snag a seat at the sushi bar and watch the chefs create works of art that taste as good as they look. The bar scene in the rear rocks with a nightly gathering of sushi fans. Sushi rolls range from the Caterpillar to spicy shrimp rolls and tempura-fried scallops. Grilled chicken on red miso-sesame-bok choy and Hijiki rice is flavorful.
Great rolls!

I was skeptical about this place because of the reviews but figured cheap happy hour specials couldn't hurt. Went there with some of my coworkers on a Sunday night and the place looked great, high energy. Best part were the specials 2 rolls for $7 bucks!! Great for this recession!! I was so surprised that Hapa had my new fancy sake that I discovered on a trip to Miami TY KU Sake and it was part of the deal for $6 bucks! Service was greawt so go for the specials and stop whining!

Disappointed

I am not a sushi eater, but my husband loves it so while walking around CC we dropped in for dinner. The two appetizers I had were awful...the potstickers had absolutely no flavor with nothing in them but pork and the calamari was worse -- soaked with grease, and served with a very sweet mango sauce that just cried out for some other flavor but just thick sweet mango. My glass of wine was just OK, as was his hapa beer. He ordered sushi and mystery mushrooms, which was just a perfect name. We sat in for half price happy hour, which took some of the sting out of paying for a meal that was very very mediocre. I really expected more. We eat out a lot, and can't remember ever having every single item disappointing. Someone needs to be watching customer satisfaction... Interesting to note that the servers who picked up our plates and saw all that remained did not ask us about our experience.

Worst Sushi

As a frequent sushi eater I was looking forward to dinning at Hapa.....However, all 4 of the rolls my friend and I ordered were tasteless, room-temperature, and fell apart; even our Miso soups were mediocre. I told our waitress, who was very polite and professional, who then got the manager. The service was much appreciated and the manager attempted to improve our experience. Unfortunately the next 2 rolls that she recommended were also horrible. The rolls were messy and the ingredients were un-flavorful, even the sauces were bland. We could hardly tell the difference between the different rolls and fish. We finally gave up, the manager did not charge us for the rolls and remained very polite. But, this was definitely the worst sushi I have ever eaten and would not dine here again. I will stick with my usual places such as Wasabi and Tazu.
- Pros: Great area, very trendy
- Cons: Bad sushi and cramped patio
