Editorial Review for Solera Restaurant & Bar – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
he decor is done in stone and dark reds, and the highbrow cuisine fiends, date-night gourmands and D-town high-rollers keep the place bustling. The menu glows with seasonal ingredients: Rings of calamari are lightly fried with mint and cilantro, striped bass swims in a puddle of lobster and bell pepper reduction, and a rancher-sized beef tenderloin features a buttery texture and a bittersweet side dish of wilted spinach.

We have been to Solera several times but will not be returning. I agree with the other reviewers that the food and wine here are amazing. This used to be my favorite restaurant. However, twice recently when we had reservations, we were told when we arrived that we would have to wait "about 20 minutes" for our table (for a party of 2!) We actually waited 35 minutes, and no one apologized for the wait or even seemed surprised by the wait, even when we asked after 30 minutes if it would be much longer. The most recent trip to Solera was even worse. We had reservations for a special occasion, our wedding anniversary. I was 8 1/2 months pregnant and was offered to "sit at the bar" and while we waited for our table. When we tried to comply, we realized that there was standing room only at bar due many others also waiting for tables. Clearly it would have again been more than the reported 20 minutes, and again, no apology. As a very pregnant woman not interested in standing on her feet in a bar not drinking and waiting for a reserved table, we decided to leave without dining there that night. Either don't overbook the restaurant, or just be one of those restaurants that doesn't accept reservations. For an upscale restaurant, this is kind of treatment is unacceptable.
Pros: great food and wine
Cons: not worth the wait /service

Solera Was excellent .I thoroughly enjoyed my service, and the food. The Scallops where cooked to perfection, the risoto was just right, and who can complain about truffle mac? Our server, Magon, was friendly and knowledgeable. He anticipated our needs and did not rush us through our dinning expirience. I was, however, slightly disapointed by the wine menu. I was expecting more of a small artisan selection. Now this is not to say that the selection they have is not good, it was just not what I was expecing. My only other complaint was the tables seemed to be a littled close to each other and the door. We where nearly sitting in the kitchen, but all this is minor in comparison to the quality of our experience.
Pros: Food and service
Cons: Slightly crowded
