My experience. Last St. Patricks Day my wife and I went to the 404. We ordered the 404 St. Pats Special. I didn't expect a lot for the amount paid. Having said that...This is what we got on our plates. Two strips each of fat, a few tired looking pieces of cabbage and several tiny, boiled potatoes out of a can. We had ordered a pint of beer, so after we finished drinking those, we left. We didn't touch the disgusting meal. We were lucky to find another place on such a busy night, which actually served a wonderful Corned Beef and Cabbage and were able to salvaged the evening. One reviewer on here stated that if you don't like the 404 you belong in the suburbs. There is never an excuse to serve garbage and advertise it as FOOD! City or elsewhere.

Paid $30 to figure out that I will never be back. – WIth this review, keep in mind my husband and I have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions over the course of several years. While the decor is quite grungy the food had always kept us going back.
I don't know if it was a because of the holiday weekend, but they had a limited menu of 6 entrees and 2 appetizers.
I had the NY strip with mash and gravy and my husband had a reuben with fries.
The meal started off with the usual skimpy salad with old lettuce and it proceeded to get worse from there. The waitress came to inform us that although the reuben was one of the six items on the menu, they did not have swiss cheese. He was presented with other cheese options none of which appeared on the actual sandwhich. The corned beef appeared to be from several days earlier, cut far to thick, tough, fatty and chewy. Nothing good to be said.
The steak was actually cooked to order, however, it had no seasoning and steak sauce was needed. The mashed potatoes were of the instant variety holding a consistency one step above the disgusting gravy that was applied to it (UNEDIBLE).
Although our food experience was way below par, Nonni (the waitress) was her usual great self.
With all that said, we will never return to the 404 for anything more than drinks.
Alerting you to worst food in Denver – On June 18 , 5 of us went to 404 club. We all wanted to try their steaks because of the hype . The reviews were mostly out of date and we should have noticed.
They waitress informed us they did not have many steaks on hand. They had one club steak and 1 New York steak. This was at 6PM on a Saturday night.
We ended up trying their Mexican steak. They probably used the 2 steaks on hand and cut them up in small pieces.
The meat tasted and looked old and probably sat in their refrig for a week. The beans were out of the can and the rice was tasteless. The food was so horrible that I would not even give it a 1 star.
We got a check for $75 and left hungry and astonished that this place had gone downhill to this point.
best bar and staff.secrettastebuds should apoligize – great staff! amazing jukebox, good food, and better people! true denver bar with actual personality. if you don't like this bar you belong in the suburbs
A Favorite Place – First, Nonni, the best waitress in the world.
Second, in 15 years of getting the Saturday steak special, I've only had maybe 3 tough ones. Some of the things that people don't like about this place are what makes it a joy to the rest of us. It's one of a kind. NOT dirty and smelly as some apparently "too good" people have said. It used to be smelly before the smoking ban, the same as every other smokey bar. The diversity of customers all happily coming together makes it special.
Truly enjoyable – I recently went to the 404 with some friends and I had a BLAST! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I ordered the lamb chops, and my friend had the NY Strip steak- we could not believe the size of the portions! They are huge! We went on a Friday night and happened to be there for the Friday night comedy. The comedians were hysterical! If you are looking for a restaurant that has a great atmosphere and a wonderful outdoor patio - this is definitely the place to go.
Perfectly cooked catfish – This is a small, old restaraunt. The kind I love. My friend ordered the fried catfish for lunch. I got something lower on the food chain. WOW her catfish was gorgeous and delicious. Lightly fried and tender. Generous serving, too. Next time......SOON...... I am going to order that catfish for ME.
Awful steaks. Smelly place. Dirty... – Me and my Boyfriend wanted a tasty steak. He suggested Club 404. Last time I went there, I ordered the french dip with cheese fries. They screwed that up and put american cheese in my french dip . Kinda gross, but no big deal. Few months later (yesterday) we went to Club 404 and both ordered the "18 oz. Ribeye special" For $16.95. First of all it was already $16.95 on the regular menu and second, it wasnt even close to 18 ounces! The potato was probably 18 ounces. Anyways, the baked potato was overcooked. The rolls were cold and you could tell they just came out of a bag of rolls you get at the grocery store. They didnt have real butter. And the one big deal breaker for me was that they didnt even have REAL A-1 steak sauce cuz the steak wasnt very good. The place was not clean. This place needs a Tom Martino check or a restaurant makeover!
Oh, and if you want salad dressing... youll have to pour it out of this dirty old school maple syrup container.
I suggest ordering something like bottled beer because they cant mess that up.
Awesome Fried Chicken! – Club 404 is a great dive bar with super good Fried Chicken! Try the Merlot/mushroom gravy Yummy! And the garlic mashed potatoes! It's a great place to get good and smashed and eat lots of yummy food!
