Average sushi for decent prices. This is an average place for sushi - prices are decent, but the sushi menu is pretty short, the service is "eh", and the sushi really tasted average. Place needs to be revamped inside - the interior has a cheap institutional look to it. In a city like Denver, that has a ton of amazing sushi places - this place needs to step up to the plate.
Average sushi experience..
When I was looking for a good sushi restaurant in town on-line, I noticed that Sonoda had a huge selection of nigiri and they had fishes that other sushi places did not have. I decided to go there one night with my husband. We both ordered some nigiri, calamari tempura, and other small dishes. The quality of sushi was so-so. The sushi rice seemd a little over cooked and too sticky. The fishes were average size. Calamari was good. The service was average. I thought that the place was over-priced for what you get.
It was not bad, but it was not excellent either. Being said that, I will probably go back there since I like their menu.
first timer. Just moved to Denver and starting looking for great sushi. Tried Sonoda's and was not too impressed with taste or price. Still looking for that awesome sushi bar that is affordable yet tasty.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. One-of-four Japanese restaurants serves udon, tempura, teriyaki, Goyoza and ice cream alongside sushi rolls and sashimi; beer, wine and sake.
Not worth it. Sonoda's is the typical Japanese restaurant. The sushi is average to sub-par, the other items almost give you a fast food feel, and the price is way to much for the mediocre food. There are too many other Japanese restaurants that deserve your time than Sonoda's.
Great place with a hint of wasabi. Sonoda's was a very good. Great service, great atmosphere, and good food. The People were friendly and helpful when asked questions about the dishes. The atmospere was very nice clean and bright. THe food was good and the unagi was great. It seems to be a little more for the sushi enthusiest though they like to use wasabi in there sushi. I'm not a big fan of wasabi and they snuck in some in almost every piece of sushi. Although it was not that much and sometimes barley noticable. If you do like wasabi then you should boost the food up to a 10. I have only been there one time so far and I may change my ratting again. For me it was a first impression and a good one.
Smooth as silk. That is the feeling I got as soon as the first piece of fish entered my mouth. High quality of sushi that one would never expect from a place in the middle of the mountains. Perfect!
great sushi. The sushi at Sonoda's is excellent- it reminds me of the quality found at many of the great sushi bars in the San Francisco bay area. The best I've had in Colorado.
Life saver!. I needed to find a restaurant that could cater a small party at my home last weekend on short notice. I found the Sonoda's Sushi website and downloaded their take out menu. It was fabulous! The wait staff was extremely helpful. The sushi was great, the price was right, and the party was a hit. I highly recommend this restaurant and their take out services to anyone on the go.
So good and so nice!. Sonoda's (on Parker) has the best sushi in town. I've had sushi at a very popular place in Seattle and Sonoda's is just as good. It's not pretentious & trendy like Sushi Den. The staff happily greets you at the door with a smile and takes care of you throughout the meal. It came highly recommended to me when I moved here and I highly recommend it to anybody else who likes sushi. The Gyoza, tempura, & miso soup is wonderful as well!!
