No passion for food and service. I've been to star of india several times, back in 2007-2008 The food was Excellent!!! A young man who was the Chef / waiter/ manager/ bartender, I think his name was Jay! Well Jay was very polite and very handsome, he somehow knew just what to say to put a smile on your face!! When that kid was in the kitchen cooking boy oh boy you could taste it it from a block away!!!! That owner guy the fat guy who likes to drink Grey goose All the time, I use to see him hiding from his wife and mom drinking, trying to run a business drunk!! Well in my opinion he is running it into the ground. I visited the restaurant today for lunch, the staff was very rude the buffet oh my god I would not even feed that to my worst enemy!! Star Of India changed alot bad food very bad service. They need there old servers and Chef back!! If there is any hope for that place they should bring Jay, K.C. and Sean back!!!!
love this place. i have tried this restaurant for few times now.and i can say that they have really great food, fantastic service and great staff members.i love their lunch buffet(i can eat it everyday if i don't have short lunch break,it's lil far from my office).but i don't mind going there for dinner.it's not too pricey.in about $20 you can enjoy a fulfilling dinner including appetizer, main cource and dessert.i really recommend this place if you want to have good indian food in denver area. you will love it.
FOOD POISONING. I've never experienced such a horrible bout of food poisoning as I did by eating at Star of India. The colleagues I met for lunch also experienced food poisoning from this food. It is five days after my horrific episode and my system is still not back to normal. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT. Better safe than sorry.
great dining experience.
I have been to many indian restaurants in denver area. But there are not too many good places where you can taste real blend of indian spices.I was at Star Of India about couple nights ago to celebrate my daughter's b'day.i've been to this restaurant 2-3 times and i liked it.From service to food, everything was superb,great...
Very nice decor with indian traditional paintings hanging on walls. Staff was very friendly.Owner Gill gave us a tour of kitchen and showed us tandoori oven.overall we had good time at this place.we would love to go back for dinner at Star.
Cheat of India.
In the name of business these guys are cheating people and are delivering substandard products ie bad food. Also I have heard of several cases of him exploiting people for work.
I have several bad experiences with this arrogant, ignorant and rude owner who is everything but professional.
PS:And no I am not another restaurant owner. I am someone who has seen him closely .
this place is a joke or what!?.
I met this chubby owner at a party and seems like hes got more attitude than quality. The man is short tempered , arrogant and that reflects in his food.He assumes that the food is great but sadly it is not.
The new management is horrible. No professionalism
Not Worth a penny.
I regret that despite opinions from friends and posts here, I went to this restaurant just to see . I was curious
The restaurant is a complete disaster. No professionalism of any sort.
Neither is the taste good , nor is that ambience or the attitude of staff. I would never recommend this place to any one, especially first timers
A regrettable exprerience. I just walked out of this place and I am very upset with what I got. Bad treatment from the host, poor quality food and a bad memory which will stay.
a genuine evaluation.
Looking at all the hate reviews and the posts made in defense, i am compelled to write an unbiased review here to see if my opinion helps...
Where when there is smoke, there definitely has to be fire.
That being said, let me elaborate further....
I have been a resident of denver for the past 30 years and being a food lover, I have been to many restaurants in and around denver.
I am a huge fan of ndian food because I like spicy food. As a result I have tasted many Indian dishes from tandoori to panir .I am probably one of those non Indian persons who knows a lot about Indian cuisine!
Having lived here so long and being a fan of Indian food, I visited this restaurant 4 years ago and I was excited because the location was convenient and the food was genuinely delicious. I visited once in 2-3 months and it truly lived to its name "a star".My husband and me were impressed with what we got for our money.
We moved to Boulder little over 2 years ago and started exploring other restaurants around that area so our visits to this one was pretty rare. Infact I did not find an opportunity to be here for quite a long time.
I met one of my Indian friends recently and she did not have one good thing to tell me about this restaurant. I realized that lately, some thing has been going on that had made people talk ill and write bad reviews.I
decided to check it out myself and see how true the accusations of the food being bad and the owner being a drunk.
About 15 days ago I visited the restaurant and must say what I got now was totally different from what I got a couple of years ago. I did not get prompt service, I did not get the great food they once had, worse , I got a cold response from the hosts who once were so polite and friendly.
I have no clue if there is a drinking problem here with any one because I was there as a customer and not an inspector but to be sure enough, people have certainly changed and the standard has substantially dropped.
thanks
just love this place.
this is my favourite restaurant since i moved to parker town.never had any problem with their staff, service or owner.i think he is very decent guy.i just read these reviews which says owner is drunk n drinking during the day time n all.first of all i think this is none of our bussiness that who is drinking at what time of the day.this seems like some kind of jealousy to the owner of this place, and seems like someone posting these reviews by different id names.i always go here to enjoy the real touch of indian food n always loved it.this is a family bussiness and someone is always there from the family to make sure that costomers are happy.but i was so dissappointed to see these bad reviews on this site.i think whoever is posting all these reviews ,he just go there to check out the owner that what is he doing?heheheheh.........
i just want to say if they are that bad, then why this restaurant is here from past 12 years?
well this is a great place and i will definitely go back............love the mango lassi...yum yum yum
