party here... not! – man this restaurant is a really overrated place. i would say the food is ok but not worth the money or excitement u have when u walk into this place.
I regret throwing a party to my buddies here. I was so embarassed at the end of it. !
rip off? – spent 40 bucks for nothing. guys this restaurant is a rip off. poor quality food
absolute waste of time
Pleasant dining experience – The food at this restaurant was very flavorful, and mild in spiciness. Their lunch buffet consisted of tendoori chicken, bamati rice, vegetable korma, chicken and potato curry, dal, pakora, and other items. The food was great, but not much of a desert selection. The service was also very good, and our plates were cleared as soon as we set them aside on the table. You dine to the sound of running water and soft Indian music - very pleasant. I will be be coming back soon!
Average Food and mediocre experience – I actually read some of the reviews here before deciding to check it out myself and what I found out was that some reviews that had more negatives to say werent actually baseless . This restaurant IS pretty overrated and the food is not some thing I would recommend to Indian food lovers and a definite No for people who want to try it for the first time. Some one here is right about the staff too. Pretty ignorant and a seemingly indifferent attitude towards the customers. I would however want to give this one more shot coz i saw one customer happy with his tika masala.
mediocre food, bad attitude of staff – Wow cant believe when some one abuses customer service in todays competitive business , especially restaurant business.
I was at this restaurant not too long ago with my wife and the only memorable good thing about our visit was the water which was rushed to our table as soon as we settled into a booth.
The food by all standards is mediocre(I have been to many indian restaurants across the world) and the prices for some of the items are ridiculous.
The staff is pretty inexperienced and the owners indifferent attitude makes it worse furthermore. I dont want to rant or bring a bad reputation to these guys by writing this nevertheless, i want to use this opportunity through here and express and share my experience
Excellent Cuisine, Great Owners, Terrific Atmosphere – The Star has been my favorite restaurant almost since the first day I tried it - and my wife and I eat there virtually weekly. I do not understand the vitriol of many of the postings here. Sounds like just so much jealousy - either by competing restaurant owners or their lackeys. To be sure, a restaurant can't please everyone all the time, but I, personally, have never been disappointed here. The owners, Gar, and his wife, Janneth, have always taken exceptional care of us, and I've noticed their dealings with other customers while I've been in attendance - they strive to ensure their customers are happy and satisfied. To call him a 'arrogant drunk' is simply too far off the mark to adequately refute. In my experience, it is unfounded and totally untrue. The wait staff has some turnover, so there may be some 'confusion' during ordering and service, but not to the extent it diminishes the experience - nor do they 'rush you out the door'. We've always been able to enjoy a leisurely meal - in fact, contrary to some have written, there may take a little extra wait to get your check! I will admit I am a relative novice with Indian Cuisine, but that which I've had has always been the best here. We are particularly fond of their tomato soup, chicken tika korma, chicken vindaloo, tandoori shrimp (and the tandoori mixed grill), chicken masala and garlic naan. We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone and routinely introduce our friends to it - to great reviews, I must add. If you wish to try something outside the norm of the American diet, this would be the place to go. Don't be intimidated by the unfamiliar names/food - the staff will be happy to explain what is on the menu and give you their recommendations.
best vegetarian buffet – i had heard lot of great things about this place.i'm vegetarian,i tried another indian vegetarian restaurants in denver, but found that this place is great.i was there on wednesday night and they had vegetarian buffet,it was amazing.love that yellow lentils and veg korma they had in buffet.and not just that, rice pudding was very good too.now i'm going there every wednesday night to try different vegetarian dishes.they have good food and good service.i think it's a good place to hold big parties also.just love it.
had a great experience at this place – i happened to be in this restaurant on saturday night.Restaurant was packed n as you enter in the restaurant, great smell of spices and food makes you feel even more hungry.it was 6 of us and we didn't make any reservation but still we didn't have to wait too long for the table.so we sat down, ordered some drinks.they have really good martini, called jerry's testrosa(recommended by our server),which was fantastic with vegetable samosas.i also tried an indian beer called taj mahal.Service was very good, and Food was soooooooo yummy..hmmm....can't wait to go back in this indian restaurant.i'm originally from calfornia,we have so many indian restaurants there.but from past 1 year living in denver and so far this was my best experience for indian food in denver,co.i highly recommend this place.
great food – Star of India is the best Indian restaurant and has been in business for about ten years and i am one of those people that goes there since.voted bets Indian restaurant numerous times .I have to say that you all should go and try it for yourself because they serve food and love.Iagree with the previous review that there is a jealousy issue going on with other restaurants or certain individuals regarding the fact that they own four and are opening five more.Their family has been doing restaurants for twenty years and slander cannot hurt them and i feel if there is ever a problem, talk to the owner and your problem would be corrected in the most generous manner.
hmmm.....must say go n try – it was my first time in star of india.usually i"m very picky about indian food.i tried another indian restaurants too since i moved in denver.my friend invited me last night to try this place.so we got there, staff was very friendly n nice.our server recommend us to try their shrimp tandoori.so we ordered bhartha makhani(eggplant with vegetables),shrimp tandoori n cheese naan.everything was very very tasty.he also brought some masala sauce on side with shrimp.ohhh...it was best combination.we were so full,so didn"t have any room for dessert, but he gave us sample of mango lassi, which was very tasty n light dessert.good thing i liked about this place that staff was so caring, even owner came to our table n asked how was everything.this place really rocks,i must say go n try.
