Good Italian Restaurant in Westminster. Great service, great food, decent prices. Sad that it took so long to find this place as I live only a couple blocks away. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. Excellent!
Lunch Dive - great for carbo loading.
Bova's is surprising busy at lunch on weekdays. The ambiance is absolutely horrible. The place has a gross mildewy carpet smell and the patrons look like they just got out of prison.
On a happy note, I was pleasantly surprised to find the food enjoyable. I had the Wednesday lunch special which comes with soup or salad and a pepperoni, mushroom calzone. The wedding soup was pretty authentic with bits of spinach and meat. The calzone came covered in extremely red tomato sauce and was packed with canned mushrooms, pepperoni, and slices of sausage. I actually like it.
All and all if you don't mind drinking out of a large plastic glass and eating amongst riffraff this place is OK.
homemade Pasta.
We were pleasantly surprised by this place. the spaghetti and meatballs are awesome - homemade pasta and huge homemade meatballs - with just the right amount of spice in the meatballs. The waitress said the ravioli is also homemade, but the other pasta types are not - so I recommend getting spaghetti or ravioli - and try
the meatballs - this place is definitely worth a visit - staff is also very friendly.
Decent Chicken Parm.. The Chicken Parmesan is pretty good. The crust is okay on the calzone. But that's about all it has going for it. The mushrooms are canned, the meatballs taste really weird and have a really gross texture. The sauce has to much oregano. The price is okay and it's pretty fast. But I wouldn't recommend going here. I'd rather go to Olive Garden
Real Italian in every sense!. I was born and raised in the same house in Westminster (I'm 50 now) and Bova's was part of my life from as far back as I can remember. The original Mama & Papa are gone now, but the kids (and grandkids) are still carrying on the family ways. I moved to California nearly 30 years ago and don't get back much, but Bova's is on our list whenever we do. I read some of the other reviews and the main complaint seemed to be it's kind of worn around the edges (seats, etc).....that's what makes me feel at home everytime I walk in there. And the food can't be beat.......homemade all the way. The meatballs are the best anywhere, sausage is delicious, etc, etc. Prices are still one of the best deals you'll see. Bueno Gusto!!!!!
Editorial Review. Since 1960, this family-friendly Italian spot features a full, traditional menu of pastas, salads; known for their giant calzone.
Great italian food for a low cost. You have to have a calzone, it takes awhile to get, but the menu warns you. Really good crust and I had meatballs in mine, yummy!!!!
Wow. This place has the best Italian food ever! You want good Italian go here!
Nothing Special. We went to Bova's based on the review here. The resteraunt was completely out of silverware so they handed my family plastic silverware that comes in plastic. The waitress never asked if we needed anything instead we had to ask when we needed things. I would recommend that if you have children a little older (older than 4 or 5) that you order a grown up 1/2 order of food instead of a child's portion. The childs portion is served in a dessert dish and I ended up sharing my food with my daughter due to the small serving size for the kids. The food was a little above average tasting, it was good but not what I would have given 9 stars for. The place did get packed after we had been ther for an hour at dinner time so I would recommend going for an early dinner.
Great Value!. The food at Bova's is not tremendous but it is very good. The calzone's were huge and delicious (two meals easy). My wife and I ordered an appetizer (garlic cheese bread), 2 soft drinks (huge!), 1 medium calzone (still big), 1 giant calzone (monsterous) and the total after 20% tip was only $26!!! One caveat about Bova's. It is NOT a place to go for a nice meal. The seats of the booth we sat in were nearly worn through and were very wobbly. This was typical of the seating and the atmosphere was also very dated. Also, the waitstaff was not very attentive. I would certainly go to Bova's again but will most likely take out as I would rather sit in the comfort at home.
