Shady Business Practices.
Shady business practices. Left my diamonds (a 1 karet and 2 smaller stones) to be set in a new ring setting. When asked what my budget was, I said $500. Mr. DeHerrera created a ring and told me it would be $1800. The ring was created without any agreement on my part to spend so much money. I said I'll need some time to determine what my budget would allow. He said if I decided against it, no worries, he could put the setting in the showcase (w/out the stones). Meanwhile, he had my $500 and my diamonds. Two months later it was clear I could not afford the 1,800, and I requested my stones be returned. He refuses to return my $500, refuses to return my diamonds (worth $3,000 or more), and says my only option is to make payments or sell them on consignment. I've registered a complaint with authorities.
My girlfriend requested an estimate for some work on a necklace. Instead of returning to her an estimate, he took it upon himself to complete the work without an agreement to do so, then charged almost $1,000 for the work. He said he "misunderstood" and that she could make payments if she'd like. She was left with the option of paying for the work or losing her necklace. Nice!
I blame myself for being so trusting, but please BEWARE!
