Editorial Review for Castle Cafe – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
The homey, old-fashioned dining room is bedecked with checkered tablecloths and Western memorabilia. Pan-fried chicken is the main attraction here; cooked crisp in a black iron skillet and served with mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls and veggies. Blackened campfire trout has a bit of heat with its crispy skin, while buffalo meat loaf arrives nicely spiced, covered with gravy and served with mashers and green beans.

Yuk. Valentines day, I spent $80 on a filet that was the size of a 50 cent piece, the crab legs were the kind you can get at all you can eat places and when I wrote to them to tell them I was unhappy SIX times, they still have not responded. Now the funny part is I own The National Restaurant Advertising Association (The NRAA dot com) where we work with restaurants throughout the nation. You would think they would respond for no other reason just for good p.r. But I think not. Stick with chicken and rolls and chicken soup and let anyone even Applebees bring the creative meals to you. Hopefully the management will see that customers expect better quality and better customer service skills. If you want great meal for the same price go to the Union Bistro down the street. The food is amazing and out of all the restaurants throughout the nation, their food is amazing. Mike Lash The NRAA dot com

Pros: chicken

Cons: management attitude etc.

We recently ate at the Castle Cafe in Castle Rock since it was highly recommended by some friends of ours who live in Castle Rock. Wow! What a great meal. This is down home comfort food, nothing fancy or foo-foo here, this is stick to your ribs, hearty food just like Grandma used to cook. Pan fried chicken, chicken fried steak with thick cream gravy, homemade rolls with real butter, I could go on and on about how yummy the food was. Will absolutely go back!

Pros: Great home cooking! Server was nice and effiecent as well.

Cons: Can't think of any!
