Other Options. I originally chose this vet when I adopted my kitten 5 years ago. A new vet joined the hospital right around the time--not a great experience. My kitten did have to visit regularly and I simply requested times when we could have one of the other two vets.

I recently adopted a puppy and took her in, forgetting to request one of the two vets we liked and saw the vet I'd had the bad experience with. The appt started late and in the 10 mins she allotted us, she chastised me twice--one for leaving the collar that puppy came with on her, and one for not bringing in a fecal sample. She condescendingly brought me gloves and commented that since I was apparently too squeamish to handle my puppy's feces, she would give me gloves. Are you kidding me? I did not bring a fecal sample because one was not requested by the office when they set up the appt. I can't believe any dr. or service provider would talk to a customer or patient like that. She administered whatever shots and services she deemed appropriate without consulting me and she also did not think it was important when I mentioned that they'd mislabeled my puppy's folders/papers with my cat's name. She dictated the week my puppy would need to be brought in for spaying without asking what my intentions were. While I fully intend to spay her I couldn't believe the presumption. Educating is okay, condescension and dictating my pet's future are not.

To top that off--upon bringing in the fecal sample I received the bill without the results. I was told they didn't have my phone number, but they took it just the week before when I scheduled the exam and they had my address to send the bill without the results. When I requested the results prior to paying the invoice, the results showed the patient as my cat. I then requested updated results and was told they would cross out the name and change it to my puppy's name by hand--probably because they could not get an outside lab to reissue correct results. Again--are you kidding me? That's the medical records and documentation a nationally branded pet hospital believes is appropriate? We advocate treating our pets with the same care we receive, and comparably charge for those services, but I do not know one human health care provider that believes altering lab results by hand is appropriate. $200 for one set of puppy shots is significantly above the average cost--the least they could do is provide professional services and records for that price. We've since changed vets and learned there are numerous high quality animal hospitals in Parker, Greenwood Village and Lone Tree that provide truly amazing service and state of the art facilities AND offer new puppy packages that include spaying at much more affordable costs.
