In Short
Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. Patrons choose from eggs, waffles, crepes and oven-baked omelets, as well as signature plates like blueberry pancakes (served with or without compote), giant cinnamon-glazed apple pancakes, thin and chewy "49-ers" and the air-filled, lemon-and-sugar-topped "Dutch Baby."

Imagine a Denny's/Village Inn/Perkins where the service is better and the place is a bit cleaner and the atmosphere is a bit lighter. Then layer a perfect breakfast on top of that, and you have the Pancake House. I am fanatical about several things here. The coffee is unfussy but good. The fresh squeezed orange juice. Consistently better than most fresh squeezed; is good even when oranges aren't in season. The pecan pancakes with the delightful tropical syrup (better than the pure maple syrup, even). The real whipped cream. Perfectly ripe fresh fruit. Bacon and eggs that are always cooked perfectly. Never undercooked, never undercooked. That kind of consistency is very, very rare, from my observations. Lastly, the 'dutch baby' on the memu is actually a 'pannekoeken' -- which I am obsessed with from travelling to Minnesota. Delicious eggy pancake that comes to your table hot and puffed up several inches from the steam built up while baking... yum. And the apple version is even better.

This is a wonderful place for breakfast. Everything is good but my family's favorites are the banana pancakes and the crepes with strawberries. The omelletes are open face, huge and filled to the max. This place is very popular on the week-ends, so plan on waiting a while before you get seated.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in Denver. I highly recommend the omelets. Don't plan on finishing it though, they are huge.We often have breakfast meetings here with our sales team. The wait staff is always professional and cognisant of when to interrupt our meetings.I have never heard anyone complain about their meal.
