We visited the Cherry Crest Market and Restaurant for the first time on Saturday [8/9]. The Saturday Night Special Lobster is delightful and a super bargain. The salad is cold and crisp with the lemon pepper dressing. The small cob of corn and the non-descript rice sides are unnecessary and not at all mentionable we asked for and received a side of sliced tomatoes as I do not eat rice. The rolls are fine and they are served with REAL butter. On the other hand, the supposed drawn butter served with the lobster is actually BUTTER FLAVORED SHORTNING [i.e. Crisco]. The color alone should have been a dead giveaway…it was bright sunflower yellow, not the soft pale yellow of butter. It’s simply awful. When I asked our server what it was, she had no idea but she would ask…she didn’t. I asked again when she brought our check and she got the bus boy to explain. Unfortunately, he spoke almost no English so this was a waste of time too. The only info I got from this fellow was that this is some sort of “butter blend” which is maybe butter but not really… WHAT????? We will go again to the Cherry Crest for lobster but I will ask for REAL DRAWN BUTTER not a sorta butter flavored shortning blend. Thanks for listening.

Pros: The Saturday Special

Cons: Melted Crisco in place of butter

The summer of 2008, I brought my husband to this place, since he knows his seafood better than I do and grew up with it. However, to his disappointment, the Lobster was not cooked completely. He said it seemed as if part of it was submerged while the other not. Therefore, he explained how the texture of the lobster was NOT done on ONE side. The manager, or whatever he was, blamed it on a temp cook for the day...yeah blame it on someone else! We should have SENT the lobster back! My pasta dish was overly spiced with flavoring! Not that great. .....Rizzo
