The truth about Country Buffet.
I worked at Country Buffet and what I saw knocked me out! They re-use the food over and over again. What I mean is the holding time for their foods are 3 days.Every thing that can be put in to some thing else is.The mangers are under major presure to maintain food cost and labor numbers.I worked at 6 of the stores in the Denver metro area and one was worst that the other. In all the stores ENGLISH is not spoken. Most people who work their are from Mexico. Not thing is made the same way in all of the stores.I worked in this HELL hole for 3 years and all ways had stomach problems from eating the food.DONT take my word for it have a great meal!!

It's a BUFFET.
Let's be real here....we're talking about a buffet where the food is prepared in huge quantities and brought out to the front. where it's kept warm, mess-hall style. I don't know about you, but I can't keep dinner at it's optimum if I did that at home, so I don't really expect them to either.
That said, they could cut down on some of the sugar in their foods. Everthing created from scratch seemed to have a sweetness to it. I realize that's a trick many people use to activate the various taste buds (add a pinch of sugar to the sauce/soup/water) but I think the cook here got a little carried away. The desserts were cloyingly sweet, but someone here REALLY knows how to make fudge properly. Best fudge I've had in a long time although you can only handle one tiny cube, it's so rich.
I do like that not everything is batter fried. I can get grilled fish, and it's very easy to get your entire MDA of fruits and veggies in one sitting.
Wish they stayed open later, but their target audience is seniors and Families so it gets pretty empty after 7. I'm the odd senior in that I'm a night owl and I dine european style, well after 8pm, which makes dining in Denver metro extremely limited. This place rolls up its sidewalks way too early.
