Don't Bother, they have given up!. Dont bother to try Ellyngtons! In what I can only imagine is some idiots idea of saving money, Ellyngtonsgot ris od their chef of 4 years and hired a kid to try and fill his shoes. I have been eating at that restaurant for the last 6 years, usually 4x per week. The food went from ok to seriously amazing when he came on. I would contemplate my lunch with great excitement each day as I would prepare to walk over. The specials were usually my choice as they were always without disappointment. The last few weeks I have not had ONE good lunch, not one. At first I thought the chef had to be on vacation but when I asked about him last Thursday, I found out he was the victim or budget cuts!!!! Unbelievable! He was the best thing going at the Brown Palace (if you have tried any of their other restaurants you will know what I mean) Their loss for sure! If anyone hears where he has gone, his name is Chef Curtis Lincoln please post it or email me. He has a pretty strong following within my firm alone, I have heard other guests asking about him so it is well worth the post. Elways is a little farther for me but at least I know the food will be good. Ellyngtons has become mediocre at best, but even that is a gamble.

Very Disappointing/Sunday Brunch. We made a reservation on Mother's Day at Ellyngton's. When I called to confirm I was told it was a champagne brunch with their normal Sunday brunch. I have been to the "normal" Sunday brunch before and it is very special. What the person neglected to mention is that the brunch didn't start until after our reservation time. The food that was served is better done by IHOP; waffles were soggy, sausages were cold and 3 dishes have no serving utensils!

What an amazing place!. I have been in Denver all week for the DNC and we are staying at the Brown Palace Hotel and eating some of our meals here as well. I must tell you that this restaurant, in particular (Ellyngton's) is THE place to be! I have seen all the major players here at one time or another (BiLL & Hillary included).More importantly I have to say that this is the best food I have eaten anywhere in Denver (Maybe ever!). I saw the chef yesterday conversing with the table next to me, a great looking guy without the usual "chefly"attitude. My Food was perfect , I ordered the chef's breakfast special that he was calling the Hunter S Thompson special, it included a Salmon cigarette which was actually a salmon & cream cheese crepe, Hash and huckleberry Pancakes...what a riot! Everyone at my table was so pleased not only with the food but the overall atmosphere here, really good vibes! Some of the hotels other restaurants are stodgy and the food doesnt compare. I'm not sure if it's the same chef or not but he does a great job here . If you are looking for a place to dine for breakfast or lunch while in Denver you won't want to miss Ellyington's. Oh yeah and order the special, whatever that may be, you are guaranteed to come away satisfied and wanting more! I can't wait to see what's on the lunch menu today or who may be in the room (rumor's about Oprah are circulating!)

Sunday- Brunch- Some of it was great, other part inedible. What was great- Prime Rib and raw oysters. What was so bad it was inedible- crab legs and mussells. Just Ok- Sushi- had a stale taste to it.

Wow...Nicely done chef!. Nice... a week eating all over Denver (yeah, it's my job) and this Lunch spot was the best food I have had in Denver in Years! Real nice combinations, delicate preperations and seasonal ingredients. Obviously this chef has some experience under his or her belt. I can't say that for all of the Brown Palace restaurants but it certainly applies here. Kudos. The food here couldnt be improved upon.
