From its bustling downtown location adjacent to Denver's 16th Street Mall and the Pepsi Center, the Rio Grande has become an important part of any visit to LoDo Denver. Visit the renovated upstairs bar, "Rio Cantina" to watch your favorite sporting events on our many T.V.'s.
The Rio has always prided itself on freshly prepared food, award-winning Margaritas, and a lively, energetic atmosphere that can be enjoyed by patrons 5 to 95. The outdoor patio is great during warm summer months with traditional Mexican music playing and frosty beverages. It's a fiesta for everyone with fresh food and drink, the Rio becomes "family" for both the employee and the customer. We are proud that the spirit of people is our secret ingredient.
Happy Hour is Mon-Thur with $2.75 mini margaritas, $1 off select imports and $5 appetizers like guacamole ensalada, chile con queso and empanadas.

In Short
This wildly popular place usually has a line of people waiting for a table or patio spot. Luckily it's ok to order appetizers and margaritas at the bar and check out the social scene during the wait. The restaurant is all about margaritas: Big or small, frozen or on the rocks. They're deceptively potent; so there's a three-margarita limit. For dining, fajitas hit the table sizzling and queso dip is good to the last drop.

Best margaritas in Denver - hands down. The lunch menu is good considering this restaurant is best known for its marg's. I always get the chicken burrito with green chile (mild) because the hot salsa will melt your tongue.

The service was poor. If its not happy hour, the margs are 6.50 a peice. Although it was strong, it wasn't very big for the 6.50 charge! The chips and salsa were ok, but we only got a few big chips and then the rest were crumbs. Our water glasses remained empty. When we asked if we could special order something, the waitress acted like it was a huge hassle and didn't want to help. Its not easy having a special diet, and its not very comfortable when you are treated like a pain. We ordered the veggie fajitas. It consisted of a large strip of squash, a couple of tomatoes grilled (not sliced to make it easy to eat), a chunk of onion grilled (again not prepared to be able to eat), and a couple of other small things, and then some dry beans. They charged almost 13 bucks for that! We didnt even eat it, we sent it back, gulped the marg, and left. Doesn't seem like our experience was the norm, but never the less we wont be back. We were in lonetree, and we went to the sushi restaurant across the sidewalk. Great service and food there!
