They really need to fumigate. I definitely wouldn't eat here because of the critters I have seen crawling around, it's an old building, and being a restaurant, it's not uncommon for this to occur, but a little hard work and expense will either eradicate or lesson the problem.

Great Dive Bar. Used to love going to Shelby`s when I worked downtown. Had a corporate job with co-workers that hated their job,and at the end of a random Tuesday or Thursday or whatever,someone would throw out "whose up for Shelby`s"!? Brings a smile to my face just thinking about it.

I can`t speak for the food......I probably had some and don`t remember......but you don`t go for the food!! Great dive bar atmosphere,strong cheap drinks and just down to earth people. If you`re open minded and despise the chains,this is the place for you!! Give it a shot!!

Bring Back Golden Tee. The bartenders, lunch specials and happy hour prices are still great but I miss being able to play Golden Tee with colleagues on those days when we need a REAL midday break.

Bar Roach Race. I was a lunch/happy hour regular for several years. A few days ago after finishing eating lunch sitting at the bar, some roaches emerged from under the bar, scuttled around/across our plates and ran down the bar. I looked after the roach race and saw a cluster of flies on the beer tap. Pointed this out to the bartender and some staff around the bar. No one went after the bugs or seemed at all interested. If roaches were that prevalent on the bar, what's going on in the kitchen. Will not return.

Feels like the east coast,. We found this place after driving by it for years, without ever really noticing it. I wish we HAD noticed it sooner, because it is our new favorite place- but we're moving!

The few times we have managed to go out in the last couple of months for drinks, we've made a point to go to Shelby's. My husband thought their food was awesome, and it looked great, but I didn't try it. There's a small patio, and the inside reminds me of almost every neighborhood bar back east that I have ever been to. Unpretentious, comfortable, and featuring wood panelling.

a douchey dj spinning obscure records to impress you with his rare and unique taste in music? NO!

How many times can you actually LISTEN to 20th Century Boy? (I am a huge T-Rex fan, don't get me wrong)

There's a jukebox, and don't worry-if you're dumb- Ben will show you how to use it. (He will also protect you from obnoxious goons that try to insinuate themselves into your drunken debauchery uninvited.) If you want to, you can call him Chuck. Actually, I recommend that you do.

I can't think of enough ways to say how much I love this bar.

it is so not a south broadway bar or a corporate owned chain-it's not part of any kind of scene- it's just unique for a place like Denver, and the people who work there are awesome.

All of the reviewers who made it sound like this place was sketchy or had poor service must be regulars at like...Applebee's or Bennigan's or something. Perhaps when they dry their tears they can go console themselves at their local TGI Friday's with some pizza poppers, and then try to move on with their life.

Hands down, this is the best place I've been in Denver in 10 years.

BAD place for ANYONE!. Save your money and go somewhere that isn't run by complete morons. Their drinks are poured weak, their food made me want to vomit, and the bartender is a dingbat.

Embarrasment to Denver. I wouldn't even give this place one star but I had to in order to write a review. Shelby's Bar and Grill is a joke. I will never go there or reccomend it to anyone. I feel sorry for the owner because of his sorry excuse for employees. Shelby's is an embarrasment to Denver.

Good lunch spot. I work close to Shelby's and about once or twice a month some of us go there for a burger. Their swiss and mushroom burger is one of the best I've had., and I've never heard anyone complain about their food. The atmosphere is a little divey, so if you don't like divey, you might not like the place. Lunchtime waitresses are very friendly and very good at their job. I have not been there after work, so cannot speak to that, but recommend the place for lunch.
