Wonderful Experience

by 1245jlk at Citysearch

My wife and I stayed at the Oxford Hotel this December at it was a fantastic surprise. The hotel staff set the tone for our stay right from the start. Two gentlemen were already unloading our bags before I stepped out of the vehicle. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The room service staff was helpful and timely. The next morning, I found a large silver coffee dispenser in the foyer area of our hotel floor accompanied with glass mugs, creamer, etc. The hotel staff does this every morning on each floor, as well as to stock the lobby lounge with complementary copies of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Denver Post. When my wife and I decided to go exploring Lower Downtown (LoDo) that morning, the hotel concierge recommended we use their complimentary town car (which will take you anywhere you need to go, and pick you up, within a 2 mile radius of the hotel). The driver was extremely nice, and provided several suggestions for dinner/entertainment. Last but not least, the fitness center was great as well (moderately sized but equipped with numerous treadmills, eliptical trainers, bikes, free weights, and a dedicated area for fitness classes (which are offered by the fitness center/spa staff). Overall, for the service and price, the Oxford Hotel is hard to beat!

  • Pros: service, location, amenities, fitness center, fantastic staff
  • Cons: old water pipes make shower/bath temperature control challenging

Suspicious

We had a horrible experience at the Oxford Hotel. The hotel itself was satisfactory however when I found extra charges on my account from room service I tried to resolve it with the front desk management. Instead of crediting my account he ADDED more money! If I didn't double check my bill again I would have paid more than what is supposed to be charged.

I have called numerous times and finally spoke to a supervisor who assured me that she would send me an itemized copy of my bill. Seven weeks later and I am still waiting for it so that I can dispute the extra charges.

I would highly advise to double check the folio before leaving the Oxford Hotel. There is definitely something going on specially with the room service charges and added gratuity.

How does this place get 4 stars?

by docwhorocks at Citysearch

1st room: paint bubled in areas in the main room, obvious where the wall has been patched, paint chipped in some areas in the bathroom. Bathrrom was small, plastic bath tub. Toliet made the bathroom feel very much like a public stall. Holes visible in the wall where the head board used to be attached. Several tiles were cracked in the bathroom. Got woken up at 5:30 with various loud trucks. Noise continued until 8:00. Room temp. was warm and the air conditioning was non-functional. Sheets had ciggarette burns. Boasted 42" plasma TV. Picture quality was horrible. May be a good tv but they had a poor video feed.

Requested a different room. Explained problems with room. Staff at front desk was RUDE, but changed my room. No offer to help move rooms.

New room was much improved. But the plug on the sink was non-functional.

Horrible experience.
