I have an infant in this day care right now.
I have really appreciated how friendly all of the staff and teachers seem to be (both to adults and to little ones). They really seem to enjoy being there, which makes a difference in how they treat the kids. My daughter always has a smile for whoever is there with open arms to welcome her for the day.
I've also been impressed at the level of professionalism that I've encountered. My daughter is in cloth diapers (prefolds and covers), and I was nervous before we started that this would be too complicated. But everyone has done a wonderful job of adapting to doing things a bit differently with her- and have done so joyfully.
She is also exclusively breastfed, and I have found the same level of professionalism and accomodation with this- the teachers really do work with me to make sure my daughter is taken care of in the way I wish.
9 years experience at this terrific school – We have been with Montessori at Denver Place for 9 years and have only good things to say about it. The management, PJ Grabowski, is excellent. She is very pleasant, approachable, helpful and communicates well. All the teachers our two kids have, had have been excellent. Several teachers have children themselves that made it into Ivy League schools.
My son left kindergarten extremely well prepared for first grade. He did multiplications, divisions and read chapter books. He read Harry Potter at age 6 and, although some words were too hard, he was able to pronounce everything correctly and understand most of it. But the most importantly, he was taught to enjoy learning and had turned into a confident little boy.
I have to give the school a lot of credit, they really know how to advance the child in a playful environment without stress. Our daughter is following the same path and is, thanks to the school, very advanced.
I don't understand the other negative reviews. I know many families who had all their children in this school, often over periods as long as ten years. By the time we'll be done, we will have been there 10 years as well.
I highly highly recommend this school.
A great place for kids! – Our daughter has been at Montessori @ Denver Place for almost 2 years and we absolutely love it. The staff and management are very helpful and caring. Management is receptive to any issues/problems you may have, you just have to talk to them! I feel so blessed to have her in such a loving environment where it is obvious they care. The school has done numerous "updates" (furniture, work, outdoor environment, etc) since we have been there. It is a super place for any child!
BEWARE! – This facility is not at all what they present themselves to be. When I was pregnant and toured, I was told (and bought it, completely) how profesisonal and involved the caregivers are - and how my son would benefit greatly from the curriculum. I learned very quickly that the caregivers (if you could call them that) in my son's room were terrible. I consistenlty would peek in to find my son screaming purple in his crib as caregivers ignored him and tended to other babies. The "classroom" was disorganized. He would run out of supplies and they would forget to tell us. When i asked about my son's day, I was lucky if I got a "good" or "cranky" out of them. I doubt if they even paid enough attention to notice. I chose that facility in part because of the ratio of caregivers to children (3:1) but several times found one caregiver alone in a room full of screaming babies. I was impressed with the management and location/facility but with childcare, it really comes down to who is responsible for your kiddo all day and in this case, the caregivers are anything but caring. Take your money elsewhere.
3 Years of Childcare Experienced at this Location – Our two children were enrolled at this center for three years. Overally, my experience proved inconsistent and sometimes even dissapointing. Significant discrepancy exists between teacher skill and motivation -- with some passionate about what they do and prone to bestowing attention and affection on the children, and others viewing their role solely as a disciplinarian. In my experience, incident reports proved inconsistent seemingly a result of a 'cover it up' culture driven from management on down. I'd picked up one son with an open cut on his lip and no one saw or heard anything, another time one of my infant sons fell off a chair, bumped his head on the hard floor and I was told about this from another parent, another time I picked up my son with a large bruise on his head and again, no one saw anything and there was no indicent report. I understand accidents happen when kids are active, and perhaps these were isolated incidents, however, it did cause me concern, in particular, because I know with 'battle wounds' like this, they would have cried and its upsetting to think this went unnoticed. It is only since moving to another center that I've really seen how different centers can be. Montessori was highly recommended to me and I know of parents who remain very satisfied however, the inconsistentcy, and the the 'cover it up' culture prove troubling. I can't say enough that a few of the teachers are absolutely OUTSTANDING -- there just aren't enough of them to make up for the others Often, it's the luck of the draw....
Aweful! – This entire organization is a wreck. The management is awful, the programing is lacking, and prices have increased 15% over the past two years. We are on our way out the door with our two children as quickly as possible. When inquiring this week into a relocation to another one of their owned facilities, the center manager told us that they had already done enough for us and she was not interested in meeting with us anytime soon. She was referring to a meeting we had almost a year prior when we considered the same move for various reasons. Both were run by the same company and we ultimately remained in the then current center. Please do not put this operation on your list.....if so, beware!
