Never a Dull Night at One of Denver's Best Dives. Truly a dive bar, and like most dives it's a mixed bag: while it's loaded to the gills with fascinating eccentrics and interesting things waiting to happen, it's also not immune to the presence of surly drunks and the occasional belligerent customer. The Lancer has the stiffest drinks in Denver, perhaps the entire Western Hemisphere, and many the amateur drinker has been carried out on their backs. It is possible to get completely hammered for under ten bucks. The food is good and the portions generous - especially the fried chicken plate, a mountain of meat I've still never seen a man able to finish. The service is generally good, except during the overwhelming "Panic Hour" during which all drinks are free for an hour. It's one of the drunkest bars in Denver, and it is nearly impossible to get cut off or thrown out even when on the brink of unconsciousness. Fun bar - don't drive there.
