Major Disappointment. Decided to go here with a group of 13 for a friend's 30th birthday. I made reservations for 6:30 on a Friday night, got there and they did not have a table for us. The manager did not apologize, but was proactive in saying he would get it worked out, so I went with the flow, we got seated at a table for four, and eight of us crowded around it and ordered drinks. It took more than 45 min and FIVE table changes before we had a table that would fit our group. Our waitress was not perfect, but pretty decent. However, our food then proceeded to take over an hour with no info about the wait from our server. I finally went and asked about it, as two of group are pregnant, and she finally came back and said we got stuck behind a group of 30, and there was nothing she could do. By now it was 9pm. Food finally arrived, except for three people's, which took another 20 min, and everyone else was done eating. I was missing salad, and three of us had no silverware we had asked for 3 times, one girl had salad but no dressing. I finally grabbed the manager and told him that this was ridiculous, between our reservation not being ready and the rest of the experience we were completely disappointed. Again no apology and was told that they "can't do anything with reservations on Friday nights because of the pig roast" I then asked why they even took our reservation then, and he just said it doesn't matter, what do you want to do here? We ended up with one free round of drinks and a lot of attitude from the manager who then reamed the poor waitress. The food was all mediocre except the pizza which was pretty good. Completely disappointed, will not be going back. They need a new manager!!
The most "Cheers" like bar I've ever been to...with a piano. I LOVE Charlie Browns. I've been there with friends and family a dozen times since I moved to Denver last summer and it's just about the most fun place I can think of to go. Pianist Patrick Stone is my favorite, and we always try to get a seat at the piano. The service and building could probably be better but I don't care...it's so fun. I've only been there a dozen times and I know many of the staff and the regulars by name. The Pizza is awesome and the wine pours are huge.
This place is great!. I met a friend from college that I hadn't seen in 15 years here and I have to dispute the bad reviews that are posted here. The food was excellent, the service was prompt, the prices are reasonable and they never got irritated with the table that lingered for 5 hours talking and drinking beers. You do need to watch where you park but it is just a matter of reading the parking signs before you leave your car...would highly recommend if you are looking for a neighborhood place to just hang out and enjoy some time with friends!!!
Won't go there again!!!. I just moved to Denver from NY and had been to this restaurant a few times, but I had always taxied or been given a ride. I once decided to drive and i parked my car along the side of the building, back facing a hotel. Well, I ended up meeting a fine looking gal who I went home with and left my car. The want a be fake cop on the premises towed my car!!!!!! After spending over $100 there, and even bragged about how comfy this place is.....THEY TOW MY CAR, citing I was not registered????? WTF!!!! Thank goodness Governor's Park Bar & Grill is just three blocks south on Logan Street at 7th. A MUCH better place and you don't have to worry about getting your car towed away!!!!!!
Not for karaoke.
The service sucked and the seating arrangement didn't make any sense. The tables were almost touching each other and you were stuck between your table and the tables around you. You couldn't move because you were stuck.
The karaoke DJ was the worst DJ that I have ever seen. We saw the same people get up and sing 2 & 3 songs. But he never put the new comers in. So if he knows you and every person that the DJ knows puts in 5 songs when they get there, the new people coming in don't get a chance in hell to sing. Most DJ's will put in new singers in the rotation between old singers. I was pretty upset the first time, but thought maybe it was a fluke, or maybe he lost our song request slips... So I tired it again a month later. Nope it's not a fluke. The DJ suck!!! There are too many other places to go for karaoke. Since we only came for karaoke, we will not be spending our time or money at a place where the DJ is obviously so full of himself, because he has his little groupie and is completely inconsiderate to the other patron.
Love this old haunted hotel. I just moved back too the Denver Area after living in California for a few years and was so happy to finally be back in some of my favorite old haunts. I love this bar and came here every Sunday to hear a beautiful girl sing. All I remember about her is her name was Joy and she used to sing Midnight Train To Georgia. Better than Gladys. Has anyone seen this woman? I believe she was a hair stylist who worked in Cherry Creek. She was a beaut and an incredible singer. Except after a few too many which she always had but after a few too many she was a freakin riot!!! I would really love to track her down cept I dont knoow her last name oh yea this bar is cool but without Joy it is just a bar...
Worst Service in Denver. The service was horrible I would never think about going to Charlie Browns again. I can't believe they allow their staff to treat customers in that way. The deserve way lower than a one star rating but that's the lowest I am allowed.
Yep its good. I live half a block away from CB's. So I occasionally go there. I am very impressed with the vast amount of choices on the menu, you can get everything from mexican, to greek, to pizza, to a good steak. And it always pleases my stomach. However about half the times I have been there I have been unfortunate enough to end up in this waitress section (kinda bigger, blond, very anna nicole smith looking) who is always with out a doubt rude to me and my fellow dinners. I myself work in the service industry and know that some nights it's not so easy to be bubbly and sweet to everyone, but there is a level of courtesy that must be maintained. She never smiles always acts annoyed when I order water, will disappear for long amounts of time, and simply makes me regret my choice of dinning there every time . The rest of the staff has always been great with the exception of her. If you get sat in her section request another server.
Ate there on 3/27/2010. My wife and I ate here finally as have lived for 4 years a few blocks away. We dined inside in late afternoon. The service was very prompt. The quality and quantity was good. I was told chef had been there for 17 years. The Gyro sandwich was excellent, one of best I had had. My wife had a scrimp and calamari with noodles dish was also excellent. I read most of reviews and complaints. For us everything was fine. We typically eat out twice a week and will return.
I HATE THIS PLACE. I lived near Charlie Brown's for over two years, and I have to say it is the most overrated bar in Denver. The food is terrible; greasy, no flavor, and over salted. Most of the people who frequent this bar are loud-obnoxious suburbanites, who woke up one day and realized that they were on the downside of middle-aged and decided it was time to relive their early twenties. They will drink themselves stupid, walk out of the bar into a densely populated neighborhood, and start screaming and hooting as if no one else in the world matters. Of coarse the management doesn’t care, they continue to let their annoying clientele stand outside of their establishment and make as much noise as possible well after 2am. –Support good neighbors, don’t go to Charlie Brown’s-
