In Short
Power diners, casual lunchers and faithful regulars, social activists and a hip bar crowd: Avenue Grill welcomes them all. The bar sprawls across the back of the restaurant, and dark wood tables clothed in white fill the rest of the space. The menu features shrimp wrapped in Italian bacon, vegetable spring rolls, pork chops drizzled with hot mustard or spinach fettuccine and rock shrimp. For dessert there's the handmade gelato trio.

The Avenue Grill in down town Denver is a sweet little get away. With it's low lights, quiet atmosphere and very helpful and polite staff it made for a remantic dinner. The menu is fairly limited, but the food is excellent. My steak was cooked perfectly, and my husband said the scallops were devine.

I have been to this place several times for meals with friends. We ordered drinks and food and have not had a bad experience to date. The service is friendly and efficient. On my last visit, I ordered the 'Chinatown Pork Chop' with wasabo mashed potatoes and a spring roll. It was very good. The hamburger is also worth a try.

I've been going for over ten years. Lunch or dinner. Both dependable. Only complaint is dishes can be over-sauced and too much butter, but just speak up they will accomodate. Great atmosphere. You can almost always get a window seat and if you're alone, it's even more recommended. Sometimes I feel a bit out of place dinning alone. But here it's very zen to sit with a glass of wine and read or people watch. Super fresh salads, service is not always the best, but I've never had a serious complaint, or if you know what I mean....really been mistreated. I would recommend this place for a date with friends, spouse, or even a romantic evening. Kids would fit in just fine, I've just never seen any. It can get loud but not so loud that you can't converse. They have a great sparkling wine by the glass. Parking is no problem. There's a lot on the north side of 17th. PS.....Chocolatte bread pudding is a small portion and nice way to end the meal.
