pub on penn. I would like to mention that as green as the waitstaff can seem at times, so is it apparant that the ownership is also green. I would like to say a stop by is ok, as for your cap hill neighborhood pub, know that they don't get how that is done yet. Until they get their act together, enter at your own risk. Expect kiss assing under the sounds of bad bad jukebox music, with a side of crap ass service, served on a bed of tator tots, the highlight of their menu.

Pub on Penn lacks in zip, pizazz, and soul. It feels cold, uninviting, and a little too desperate for whatever and whoever will come in. Suggestion: weather the storm like barowners, be selective, and stop kissing the asses of mediocre bottom feeders who offer your business nothing but more headaches and what "more" can you do for me conversations. You have a great location and a big pool to fish from, get with it.

not acceptable... and pretty lame.. i live close to this bar but i wouldnt say i ''frequent'' it... the staff is very unfriendly, they would rather talk to there buddies than actual customers. i always tip well, thinking that i may get some sort of customer service one day but it never happens...the food absolutely sucks. the cook is burdened and makes that apparent every time an order is put in. most of the time the food comes out wrong...typical for this establishment. shitty service, shitty attitudes, shitty food. and they dont seem to want more for themselves.

Not fun anymore... I used to hang out at The Cafe for many years.. this came to a halt not long ago. Things have changed, yet some things haven't. Quite often they are out of items on the menu. That has been, and always will be in my eyes, unacceptable. Poor management and poor planning. The service has NEVER been consistent.. it depends on the current hired help. You simply don't go ever go there for service. The drink specials are good. Keep in mind that it is very close to Colfax and you will have an array of individuals from the street spare changing you outside ; they may even accost you while you are sitting in your booth, inside the cafe. If you are okay with that.. by all means. The decor has always been dark and spooky.. I do like that. But.. bottom line..is that what you spend your money on? No. Has the staff ever been rude to my friends and I? No, not at all. It was once a fun place to hang out with my friends, but now..my friends and I would rather spend our time and money elsewhere, frankly.

Free pool Saturdays. You walk in to a place where the bar stools are duct-taped the booths are holding together by threads it seems but they'll never fall apart. it feels like your walking into your very first apartment with rundown hand me downs from family and friends. but the service is excellent the drinks are great and the food is great for bar style food that is. you can get anything from steak dinners, salads, cheese fries galor, to cheesecake. along with that is a great jukebox full of all your favorites from ministry to prince. on Saturdays they have free pool all day long into the night be careful though they aren't exactly level. what i love most is feeling like your not some freak of nature and getting good service from people not to different in style then you. eveyerone is always welcome in and the have internet connections there too.

cool casual alternative bar. this place opened its arms to me. i'm not goth-style or freaky or anything, but this bar and the people there reminded me of places i hang out in richmond and other east coast cities so i felt at home. friendly bartender. a great place to avoid a freak hail storm. good mix of clientele- yes including mohawks and blue hair, but also clean looking dudes, old drunks, dogs, and people just hanging out a a neighborhood cafe. draft beers were a little expensive though- city prices
