A fixture in Denver's Midtown/Capitol Hill Neighborhood since 1987, Benny's has come to be known for serving delicious, affordable and authentic Mexican food in a fun atmosphere. Locally owned and operated, Benny's food is cooked fresh on site and offered at reasonable prices. View Less … View More
I don't get it. The food never was (and still isn't) good. We used to hang there because it was local or if we were hung on a Sunday morning. I really have no idea why it still always crowded View Less … View More
Notorious.
Benny's is popular with suburbanites. For some reason word has gotten out that heading to the city requires a stop at Benny's. The locals,
however, won't touch the place. We typically head south and east for Mexican food which is where the good stuff is.
The food at Benny's has to be straight out of a can or bottle. There is little that tastes fresh. Meats are typically cooked to the consistency of rubber (with the possible exception of the carnitas, which are sometimes a high point on the menu). Most dishes are covered in a generic sauce and a bed of lettuce with a few bits of tasteless tomatoes. There is no imagination in the presentation of the food.
Several reviewers have mentioned the margaritas. Yes, they are tasty, but way overpriced. Order a liter of margaritas and you'll get a liter carafe packed full of ice with little room for margarita.
The atmosphere at Benny's has nothing to offer. It is absolutely jam-packed with tables. A server will take your order, someone else will deliver the food in minutes and then you'll be hustled out to make room for the next party. There are televisions playing in every corner. The place is pitch dark in certain spots (which is usually a sign that you don't want to see the place in full light).
The popularity of this place is absolutely puzzling.

Benny's Regular Back in ACTION....
I had my car towed at that parking lot on May 5, 2011 going to celebrate cinco de mayo @ Benny's, I got these really mean people that i had
to deal with by the name mile hi towing and recovery i took them to court and it turned out that they where innocent because they showed "proof" i dont know how but whatever im over it.
I contacted Benny and Sloan Associates by investigation and he was very nice about the whole situation he explained to me that mile hi towing and recovery is in charge of the lot they manage who goes in and out of the lot, that he only rents this to soon hopefully own it and make it an additonal benny's parking lot, he was nice about it felt really bad, i came on here before and i saw all of the bad comments and i totally agreed until now i used to come to bennys every thursday with family and friends i havent been here for a month and i was soooo glad to come back last thursday i did park in the benny's parking lot on grant i felt so much safer I had a reservation with friends i asked bennys manager if i could leave my car there over night, because last time i got towed in the lot behind and she said yes here is a token whenever you come back your car will be there..
I totally regret parking on that logan lot they stole $400 from me that i didnt even have and im still paying it off.
I was so glad to be back at benny's i was like never going to go in again, i know its not their fault if i were you next time you go to benny's there is a free parking lot on grant where its safe if you do get scamed take it out on mile hi towing and recovery not bennys
TO NEW BENNY'S COMERS YOU WILL LOVE THE MARGS AND THE FOOD..JUST DONT PARK IN A PARKING LOT BEHIND THEM THEY HAVE FREE PARKING ON 7TH AND GRANT!

Don't be a dummy.
sounds like the biggest problem with folks is failing to be honest when parking downtown. If you make yourself familiar with your
surroundings and keep yourself honest ( including paying for parking) then you won't find yourself in costly situations. I have been a patron at Bennys restaurant fr several years and have always parked in the correct lots for the establishment that I'm going to.
It doesn't take a high school graduate to read a sign. If there's ever any doubt you should not park there.
Welcome to the world of adult responsibility.
