Anti-Homosexual atmosphere. I hve never written an online review before but I have been going to the Bianchi family bars since the first Quioxties on E Colfax. I will never step foot in one of their bars again. On a Thursday night after the DNC my friend and I were out dressed quite well if I do say so myself. He in a pink floral print shirt me in a sportcoat and khakis. We wanted to go somewhere else, I am not gay but he is. We both did Dead tour together and know the welcoming and accepting atmosphere of a true Dead Head. All that said when we walked in Sanchos the bouncer told us they were not serving anymore. It seemed odd since it was only 1am but I thought hey whatever. As we walked away the bouncer said to one of his friends "Were not serving you people". His friend then told us to try JR's which we did and found an accepting and welcoming atmosphere.

Awful...Awful.... The negative assessments are all spot on. There's nothing laid-back or casual about this bar. The service is awful, both slow and impolite, the patrons psuedo-hippie dirtbags, and the bouncers are always trying to make an impotent show of their authority. Last time I was there, a regular threw a bottle at my head (aiming at someone else down the bar) and I was bounced - not the regular, but me. Also, prepare to overhear some of the most inane conversation of your life in the form of pontificating stoners spouting off ludicrous rhetoric. A terrible place.

Worst bar in Denver!!. Sancho's used to be a pretty good place to down a drink before a show at the Filmore, however any other time this place is boring!! The clientele, filled with knucklehead trustafarians and buffalo chicks, neither provides any interesting conversation nor any pleasant scenery. The bouncers, tend to be just a wee bit naziish as they will allow in anyone who is spun on acid, but will not allow in others who they deem not to be "heady" enough for their scene!! Lastly, the bartenders never serve you promptly unless you are a "regular" ie. chronic alcoholic who practically lives there and honestly believes that Jerry is still alive...Conclusion, if you are an intelligent person who prefers a stimulating environment, Sancho's is not the place to go!!!

Avoid if you are looking for a fun experience.. I have been to Sanchos several times before seeing a live show and its official, this place is the worst. I am native to New Orleans and have had my fair share of bar experiences and this one, it by far the most ridiculous. I LOVE dive bars for the total relaxed experience, friendly bartenders, and interesting mix of people--exactly what Sancho's is not. I thought my first experience was a fluke, but it wasn't. As soon as you walk up to the door the bouncers are unfriendly and appear as though they cannot wait for the next confrontation. I've decided that in order to get a drink in less than 20 minutes or even a smile from the bartenders, you must be a regular. This bar supposedly prides itself on its "relaxed back" attitude and its chill-nonconformist atmosphere, but you wouldn't know it by the way the staff acts. You would think that you are at trendiest, cheesiest club in L.A.--one with Dead posters on the wall. Its all an facade. The staff needs to take their egos down a notch and the sticks out from you-know-where and acknowledge the bar for the dive bar that it supposedly sets itself out as being and start conforming to that image.

Great hangout, fun to meet new people, great drink prices. I am sad to admit this, but this used to be my home away from home and still is for many. It was my base for any social operation and I still enjoy going there though not as frequently. Sancho's is the sort of place that, for regulars, they can walk in and know at least half the people there, and for newcomers to the area, walk in and make 10 friends by the end of the night. There is a little bit of everything from a large wrap-around bar to pool, air-hockey, fooseball and Golden Tee, but it is DEFINTELY A DIVE! Do not come in here expecting your downtown lodo crowd: you will not fit in. A warning to the newbies: the drinks are poured strong and if you try a Grateful Dead, just because it tastes like fruit pu nch, does not mean that you should slurp down too many (they are very strong). It is usually very crowded which can be an issue for some, but others love it (just be aware). The only real downside is that all of the bartenders are not always happy hippies: the female bar manager has a serious attitude issue and no qualms about throwing people out if she doesn't like what you're wearing or your hair or the fact that you are breathing air.

Great hide away. I love this place. Colfax is not so bad either, and even the girls were walking around as if it was safe, not at all what I heard about this area. I really like the low back feel.

Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Locals come to this friendly Grateful Dead-themed bar to jam to live tunes, chat and enjoy cheap beer specials.

Sancho's...A Thinking Place. I really enjoyed everything about Sancho's. They had good bartenders, Great Beers, Cheap prices, an Excellent Jukebox to groove to, and all sorts of cool people to kick back and chat with. I try to make it there everytime I'm in Denver.

My favorite. The most laid back place to be.

Anyone will talk to you, and you can talk to anyone.

There is noone stuck up, and everyone is having fun.

They have change machine for 3 (nice) pool tables, an air hockey table(That they actually fix when it's broke), a foosball table, and one of those mini-hockey tables.

Thank god they got rid of the golf machine, we didn't need another yuppie bar.

Right accross from the fillmore, so a good after entertainment place.

Perfect for laid back chicks.... I'm new to Denver and a girlfriend and I randomly stumbled upon Sancho's. We had a fabulous time there...if you're looking for hotties w/o the cocky talk and an urgency to get in your pants, this is the place. Unfortunately, we did get pulled over by the only frat-looking guys in the place...and were expected to pay our dues at their table. Can girls go anywhere w/o this harrassment? Fortunately, Sanchos was overall very cool and not as disrupting of our freedom as most bars.
