My boss took 16 people out to dinner at the Buckhorn Exchange Restaurant last night, 4/24/12. Several of the guests were visitors from Switzerland, and we were hoping to give them a feel of the "old west". The ambiance was nice, but the food was awful. So spicy that the meals couldn't be finished. At $60 per person, it was a great disappointment. We won't ever use this restaurant again. Next time we'll go to The Fort.

Worst Experience in 37 years. Poor service, the food was really bad, and management has been unresponsive to my complaints. I had not been to the Buckhorn in over a year. My previous impression was that the food was better than average and the atmosphere great. Although pricey, it seemed like a good choice for entertaining an out of town guest. My recent visit left me feeling embarrassed to have brought our out of town guest to the Buckhorn.

A fly landed and died in my son's half full pop. Not a big deal to the guy looking forward to a little Yak but when I asked the waiter to replace it he only brought a glass with ice and no pop. Pop is sold by the bottle at a hefty price. He did not adjust the Bill or offer an apology.

My son and I had the Navy Bean soup along with our entrees. It had a burnt taste as though from the bottom of a burnt pot. My wife and our guest had salads. They were flattened as though they had been stacked for a long period of time and my wife said the ingredients were limp.

The prime rib of buffalo and yak were chewy and tasteless. The salmon was overcooked and dry as was the quail. The only item that tasted ok was the osterich.

My son and I were sick to our stomach's that night presumably from the soup. I wrote to the Buckhorn the following morning to report all of this through their websiet and although they promise a reply in 24-36 hours they still have not replied four days later. I've lived and dined in Denver for 37 years and this is by far the worst dining experience I have had.

Never been. I saw the restaurant was featured on man vs food. Looked amazing. I went online to look at the menu and discovered just how pricey this place is. I am looking for a romantic place to bring my beautifull co-worker who i am trying to romance, and honestly this place with its history and western theeme looks like the place where i will ask her to be my girlfriend... Kinda dorky but thats me..

Not what it use to be. Last couple visits, the buffalo and elk has been very poor quality. Which is very dissappointing for a place that charges $36-$41 for a typical prime rib or medalions.

amazing!!. i really dont know what people are talking about with all the bad reviews. my husband and i went just this evening for his 20th birthday. i called the night before and made reservations and we showed up 30 min early and were seated right away. our waitress was sooo nice and very attentive. we ordered alligator and rattlesnake appetizers...we loved them both...the alligator reminded us a little of calamari and the rattlesnake was very unique! for our meals i got elk and buffalo with a salad and baked potatoe and veggies. it was more than i could eat and everything was delicious..i like the elk more than the buffalo. my husband ordered elk and quail, we both loved the quail sooo much!!!after our meal the waiters came out carrying s giant fudge brownie covered in hot fudge and ice cream with a little candle in it. it was so cute when they sang to him! honestly other than being very expensive this place is deffinetly worth a special occasion. we plan on returning with my parents before my husband is deployed to iraq in march.

The WORST eat out experience ever!!!. Horrible food. Meat is overcooked, taste like rubber. Don't order the "Rocky Mountain Oysters", tasteless. It's not the ball that's bad. It's the way they prepared it. In fact, it's not gourmet food. They WARM (frozen stuff) instead of cooking from fresh. And the soup, it's worse than dog-food in 3rd world countries. Lots of travelling and having tasted food around the country and overseas prove this place to be a dump. That TV chanel shouldn't have taken $ from this place to include it in their show. It's a shame.

Overpriced Road K!LL. What an expensive lesson.. $186 dollars (less tip} for three of us to sit outside with the flies and wind; just to eat mediocre food. Ostrich, yak... stuff like that. We had three entrees, three beers and 2 ice tea's.... for $186 Major highlights below...

> Flies were horrible oustide

> Despite being outside in the heat.. food got cold before we could eat it.

> The "famous" bean soup = dishwater with navy beans in it.

> $5.50 for a beer ?!?!?! Shotgun Willie prices ?!?!

> Take some time and clean those head mounts

> I would recommend Casa Bonita to a visitor before this place...

Overpriced road k!ll as far as I'm concerned Could have gone to Morton's or Del Frisco's for that price.

Very Dissapointing. I took my fiance here for a special birthday dinner with pretty high expectations. Needless to say, we were both very disappointed. The food was okay - nothing that would justify the price they were charging. The staff was awful. Our waitress was inept. And before dinner, we stopped at the bar for a cocktail and had to deal with rude bartender. I implore you to save your money and stay away from this place.

Excellent Restaurant. We always have a great time a the Buckhorn. The service is always excellent; curtious and time welled in between courses. The appetizers are great. Don't complain about rattlesnake or alligator or cow testicles, it is what it is.

Whenever family visits we bring them here and they always have a great time and enjoy the food.

Thank you!

Don't go if you are hungry. This place must be surviving on its great decor and history alone. Service is pleasant if you are dropping the bucks, not if you aren't. I have to suspect that the good reviews are plants--the food is simply sub par. What is good is served in tiny portions. Is rattlesnake always as tough as a old cowboy boot?
