The coziest non-bargain in town

I really enjoy supporting locally-owned establishments, particularly when they are loaded with so much history and nostalgia. The food is rather dated- maybe to the 1970s or 80s- but that's ok. The problem is that the value has recently been reduced. To pay $17.95 for a pasta dish at a place like this is silly enough, but to find out tonight that salads are no longer included in the price is just ridiculous. This isn't special pasta- it's just spaghetti with marinara and some shrimp! Seriously, if you're going to ask people to pay for an old-school experience, at least make it authentic and bring back your iceberg lettuce salads. I could make that pasta dish at home for a third of the price. Also, the service could be a little more personable. I feel like the Cherokee has kind of compromised itself in the last couple years, which is a shame, because it holds such a unique place in Denver history.
- Pros: It's a Denver tradition
- Cons: It has become unreasonably overpriced
All Over the Place

You walk in to this nice looking and feeling restaurant and handled one of those heavy books of a menu that you usually receive at high end places. The waitress tells you that the night's specials include Prime Rib and Grilled Salmon, with the chef's own special sauce. You open the book looking how much you will work the old credit card and then it hits you. Not only to they have multi-course meals but inside that heavy book is burgers, pasta dishes and even Mexican. I try to avoid places that have too much but gave it a try and it was good, well prepared food. I looked around the restaurant and it was a combination of neighborhood folks as well as people going out for the evening, so maybe this eclectic menu mix works.
- Pros: A little something for everybody
- Cons: Maybe too much variety to concentrate on what works.
