I USED to love this place when I worked downtown... Loved the fried steak tacos w/ avocado.. I went back recently and my opinion has totally changed.. The tacos were not as good as they were before , they charged me $1 for 1 avocado slice, the beans and rice were awful.. The beans had an out of the can taste. The whole meal tasted very cheap.. The service sucks as well.. The waitress was cool at first then got a huge attitude when I had a question about a .60 cent discrepancy on my bill the manager took it upon himself to come to my table 3 times and argue about. The service was always horrible and now the food matches.. Not worth the trip downtown and there are so many other Mexicans restaurants that are way better than this place in Denver like Las Delicias who appreciate their customers and have quality food for a reasonable price.

I have eaten at many Mexican food restaurants throughout the Denver Metro Area, and this place has the best tacos that I have found yet.

average at best. The beef burrito and mexican hamburger were both below average. There was maybe 3 slivers of shredded lettuce and 2 little diced tomato pieces on the side of my burrito, the green chili was watery and tasteless and the beef tasted like the grill had not been cleaned in a while. The shredded cheese on top of the burrito was good. Too bad because it's in such a great historical building.

A real treat. I've gone here for years, love going there and having tacos and beer. My favorite place to eat downtown.

Great Tacos... authenticity not so much. With a name like Mexico City, I first expected "mexico city" style tacos (like from a lonchera, otherwise known as a taco truck) definitely not the fried tacos they serve. However, their fried chicken tacos are sooo good! I am definitely a fan but have to give people a disclaimer about the name and the food they offer. The rest of their menu is more of your typical "mexican-american" food.

They finally have a website up - but its missing the hours of operation... which is always tricky because if you don't go early you'll find that their doors are closed. So it might be good to call before you go, or just count on going for lunch.

I will definitely go back for the tacos! :)
