Editorial Review for Pete's Greek Town Cafe – by Marty Jones

In Short
Original counter seating and vinyl booths as well as an enclosed patio and Aegean accents are featured in the decor of this Greek restaurant. Breakfast is served anytime, blending cuisines with choices like eggs and souvlaki, the gyro-and-eggs platter or one of the house Mexi-breakfasts. Lunch and dinner visitors usually opt for one of the many Greek options, including mousaka and lemon-and-oregano baked chicken and spinach pie. Steaks, burgers and salads flesh out the menu.

My dad and I both got very sick eating here in the fall of 2007. When I called to tell them so that they could hopefully spare others of our misery the waitress was very rude and hung up on me. I submitted negative feedback on their website which caused a manager / owner to call me and apologize. He was very nice and offered my dad and I a free lunch, which I obviously turned down - that type of food born illness is not something I'll risk repeating.

The tzatziki was sour cream with cucumber in it. The moussaka had what I honestly believe was Chef Boyardee meat in it, and was topped with some kind of horrible nutmeg custard (ostensibly Bechamel). A thin slice of soggy eggplant was placed between the two other toxic components. The vegetable sides were obviously frozen, and my soup was from a can. This is honestly some of the worst, if not THE worst, food I have had in my life. The service was quick and friendly - though receiving tripe promptly does not change the fact that it's tripe.

Pros: Decent service.

Cons: Horrible Food

This Colfax eatery is a solid choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner, especially for the culinary treasures of Greece.  See the full editorial review.
