In Short – Groups sip lemonade on the cozy patio while they wait for a table--this restaurant doesn't accept reservations and there's usually a wait. Inside, colorful abstracts from local artists adorn turquoise-colored walls. Home-style dishes range from juicy, herb-roasted chicken with a mound of mashed potatoes to crusty, fried catfish with crisp hush puppies. The tender, well-marbled rib eye drips with meat flavor, while peppered shrimp with mango-habanero salsa is cool and spicy.
OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT!
by Denverpete at Citysearch
This has been one of our favorite restaurants for about ten years. The owners run the restaurant and are there everyday. They are involved in the cooking as well as in the dinning room, ensuring that every meal is great. The kitchen is visible from the street and looks clean. The restaurant is small, intimate, and may be noisy at times. I think this reflects the active and vibrant street scene of the neighborhood at 32nd and Lowell. All of the entrees are good, but the salmon is amazing. The prices have increased quite a bit over the years, but the experience is well worth the price. Great place for a date. Great neighborhood for a stroll and to shop in the boutiques. BE CAREFUL OF PARKING ON THE RESIDENTIAL SIDE STREETS. SEVERAL OF THEM WERE RECENTLY CHANGED TO RESIDENTIAL PARKING ONLY.
I like the idea but I did not think that the food was that great

This place is kind of expensive and seems like it is more of a show that restaurant. My favorite part was the alley walking to the back, past the kitchen. Crazy! Had the meatloaf, pretty mediocre. I would recommend it if you have got some to burn and want to try a unique restaurant, but don't be prepared to be amazed. Nice place for a date.
- Pros: Nice place for a date, unique
- Cons: average food, a little showy
Very good comfort food, but not very comfortable

The meatloaf and salmon with wasabi rice are both very good. The prices have gone up steadily over the years to the point that it's become a questionable choice. The tables are too close together and the place is too loud to have a pleasant evening. It's a shame they compromise where they shouldn't.
- Pros: Try the salmon - can't miss!
- Cons: Too loud, crowded and expensive
