Denver Italian Tradition!

  • Traditional Italian Recipes
  • Best Pizza in Town
  • Great Happy Hour Scene

Dating back to the Old West the public has had a fascination with outlaws. From the time of Jesse James and Billy the Kid through Al Capone, John Gotti and the fictional Corleone and Soprano families we have, for some inexplicable reason, been drawn to bad guys with style.

While Chicago has their tales of Al Capone and New Yorkers speak of the John Gotti's, Denver's enterprises were controlled by three brothers from the northwest side of town and Gaetano's figures prominently into their story.

For while the Smaldone family's criminal enterprise have vanished, the Wynkoop Family of Restaurants is proud to carry on Gaetano's tradition of serving fine Italian cuisine.

So join us, sit back, enjoy a soft drink or cocktail and take a moment to discover the rich history of Denver's most colorful and notorious family... and the restaurant they founded.

Editorial Review for Gaetano's Restaurant – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra are enshrined in the bar like godfathers of garlic. Pizza is the star here, with old-fashioned, tortilla-thin, crisp-cracker crust laced with garlic, fresh cheese, tomatoes and basil. One might wonder if "rigatoni with meatball" is a typo on the menu, but when the dish arrives, you'll understand- meatball is gigantic. All kinds of art line the restaurant walls, from old family snapshots to an amazing painting of a baroque nude.

I live in North Denver and sample all the local spots. When I am going Italian I like Geatano's. Thay have a unique old style atmosphere as well as great food. The bartender, Tram is great mixologist and creates some great classic cacktails. The vodka gimlet is my fave. A couple of those with a order of their calamari at the bar is a great start. I have had just about everything on the menu and well, what can I say except YUUUUUM! Consistancy in food and service is why I frequent a joint and they have it covered.
