Editorial Review for Parisi – by Ephraim Mallery
In Short
This airy, urban cafe features tall windows and a back wall covered with old Italian family photos. The deli on one side offers gelato, rich espressos, Italian pastries, cheeses, meats, salads, olives and other gourmet supplies. On the other, there are hot meals from the counter. The menu features fresh Italian fare such as penne smothered in basil pesto or simple spaghetti with garlic, olive oil and spicy peppers.

Disliked the food for the price. It's that awkward atmosphere where you feel like you should leave a tip but there really isn't any service. You buy your food at the register and then they bring it to you. That's it. They also choose where you sit, which is fine and like most restaurants, but they sat us right behind the location where they brought the dishes. All we heard was clanging and people chatting right behind us. I think this place is better for the market located inside the restaurant and not a good spot to sit and eat. Try it for yourself though.

Parisi is one of those places I've become addicted to! Even though the joint has becoming incredibly popular (read long lines) it is still always a pleasure to wait for my perfect pizza. The other dishes can be incredible as well, such as the homemade gnocchi and risotto. Parisi is the closest thing I've found to Italy, were I travel often, as it offers a fun, come everyone and bring your outside voice and vino sort of environment. The last time I was in we had a party of eight people on a Saturday night and the staff made us fell at home as we waited (quite a while) for our table. They even brought us some snacks to munch on at the counter and the kids were entertained by the showmanship of the pizza makers. When we got our table we enjoyed the the dishes we had ordered and were amazed at the number of people waiting to get a taste of this little slice of Florence. My only complaint would be the crazyness of the entire process, but it also adds to the charm of the whole experience. We finished the night with gelato and some tiramisu from the deli. On the way out we wandered downstairs and were astonished to find an entirely different restaurant. Much less hustle and a great looking menu, have to get back soon. Overall, always a great time with great food and so far, no lost luggage.
Pros: Great food, cool concept, cheap eats
Cons: Long wait, parking, not closer to home
