Comfort Food - Chinese Edition.
For my old time, classic Chinese style comfort foods I head to China Cafe. They have pretty much all of my favorite Chinese dishes (sadly no Moo Shu) and the kitchen cooks each dish perfectly each time.
Warning: It's not fancy but I'm after taste not superficial ambiance. I still go to that big chain (not going to mention the name but you know it's a Chinese restaurant founded by the American dude) but only because my co-workers drag me to that fru-fru shack.
Honestly, I want to support to local Colorado businesses and this place deserves a mention. From past conversations with the staff they have been in business for a long time and aren't your fly by night corporate gig.
Skiing and swimming always make me very tired and HUNGRY afterwards. On my way home from the slopes you'll find me here sitting with a big plate of spicy goodness. My favorites include any of their soups, dumplings, Teriyaki Chicken, Cashew Shrimp and many more. Service staff is very nice and they have a TV so you can watch some shows or the game when it's on.
Recommended for everyone who wants a good meal without the high price tag and frivolous trappings.
Yummy yum yum.
Their food is really good and a great value. Subway is next door but who wants to pay the same amount for a cold sub? For under $6 I can get a yummy yum yum hot n fresh meal. Favorites are the Hot & sour soup - spicy enough to cure any cold or flu you have and the lo mein noodles with chicken and extra veg. Throw in a couple of egg rolls and crab rangoons it is paradise
Anyways, I'm from back East and it's a family tradition to have Chinese on Christmas. Mind you, I ain't complaining about the food, just wish they were open all the time!! Yeah yeah yeah they got family and probably wanna spend time with them but jus sayin'...
Otherwise, give them a try, food is YUMMY.
Delightful Lakewood hot spot.
Over the years I have enjoyed many sensory delights at this little Chinese restaurant. Nothin' fancy but I can always count on having some good food and plenty of leftovers. Don't miss their dumplings, hot and sour soup and fried rice! I <3 the crab wontons too!!
The best value is at lunch but if I need to pick something up at Target I always drop by for a relaxing meal. I can't resist the wonderful aromas filling the parking lot -- they entice you in.
Typical Ameri-Chinese.
I just got back from the states after living in China for a year and am desperate to find "real" chinese food here. So far, no go. Anyone know of any wicked good authentic Chinese, let me know.
The service at China Cafe was good but the food was mediocre at best. The chicken was the same kind of deep fried meat you find at most American Chinese restaurants, and a little dry. The fried rice was the most bland I've ever had. My dish was served dry with sauce on the side and no additional herbs/vegetables etc.
Where's the real chinese food in Denver???
DESERVES 9+.
Consistant, traditional, neighborhood food. Nothing fancy, just pleasant and good. Nice variety.
Food Snob thinks this place should have 9+ scores.
Good Eats!. I love this restaurant, the food is so good. I have been working my way down the menu and I haven't had a bad dish. We come here when we want to relax and have a hearty dish. Prices are reasonable and the portions are huge! I save my leftovers for lunch the next day. Try to save room for dessert, the Coconut Ice Cream is the best!! It's creamy and cools your throat after eating a spicy dish.
Really, Really Bad. We ordered dumplings, soups, and two entrees (General Taos Chicken and Mongolian Beef). The dumplings were pretty good, the soups were bland, and the entrees were not even edible. The meat was terribly overcooked and everything was so tasteless. Even the fried rice that came with our entrees was bad. How does this place even stay in business?!?!
Heaven in Edgewater. I love Sesame Chicken and I've been going to all the Chinese restaurants in town looking for the BEST Sesame Chicken, China Cafe has it!! It was sweet and had a nice bite to it. My friend had their spicy Vegetables with Garlic Sauce and she claims it's heavenly. I'm going back for more!
Chinese Cuisine at its best!. We have been going to this traditional Mandarin/Szechuan Chinese cuisine for over ten years and have never had a bad meal. Try their lunch or combo specials which are filling and budget friendly. Homemade Ice Creams are To-Die-For! Fried Tempura Ice Cream, Black Sesame, Lychee, Fresh Ginger, Green Tea and Coconut are some of our favorites. We take ours to-go and enjoy it across the street at Sloan's Lake Park.
