A neighborhood classic – Particularly in Colorado, restaurants come and go like the passing seasons but Dino's Italian Food has been in the same spot for decades and the locals know why.
The homemade noodles are fantastic, as are the meatballs and the sausage. Sandwiches are great, pizzas are stellar and if you adventure to their wine list there are a few fabulous red wines. The salads, while a little "plain" are dressed with the best italian dressing and I just love the crunchy little sesame breadsticks!
The atmosphere is good (hasn't changed much in the last 20 years) and the service can take a while but its worth it for a nice night out and affordable, tasty italian food.
A few years ago it was great, but things have gone downhill – My husband introduced to to Dino's a few years ago - he grew up going there. We don't live nearby but we always make a point to go a few times a year. The service has really gone downhill over the past year. I ordered carryout recently and was told 25 minutes . After 45 minutes I told them I couldn't wait any longer because I had to pick someone up. The man working the register told me it would be 10 minutes more minutes as I had just ordered the pizza. I told him I just couldn't wait and threw a fit when I asked for a refund. I'm sad to say we won't go back.
My fav Italian flavor spot > try THIS – YES - Salad dressing here is the best around : You will rarely be diss'd with the Sausage Deluxe and IF you do not fall for the Homemade noodles with your Spag.; You are missing a TREASURE of FoodLife.!!
Pies are best whole and always HomeMade.; The Spumoni Ice Cream is just the Ticket. WISH I WAS THERE NOW!!!!!
Gotta Love Dino's – Great food, family atmosphere. So refreshing to go somewhere that's not a chain restaurant. Great Italian dressing. Pizza is tasty, not greasy!
Just say no to Dino's – As a Colorado native, I have driven past Dino's on West Colfax for over 30 years, yet never managed to make it inside, until tonight. I could have (and should have) held out for another 30 years. I was expecting something very special, seeing how Dino's has been around for so long.
I was excited to see a limited menu. Most entrees are offered as a complete dinner, including salad, coffee/tea or soda, bread for a very reasonable price. I figured they must be very good at doing pasta and red sauce. I was prepared to be amazed.
The salad was a bland pile of iceberg lettuce with a tangled, soggy garnish of shredded carrots topped with a tasteless oil slick of an Italian dressing.
I had the cheese ravioli with sausage for my entree. The ravioli were doughy and the cheese filling completely lacking in seasoning. This starchy mass of tasteless-ness was surpassed only by a red sauce that was so devoid of taste, I was actually astounded. As I forced my way through this plate of bland nothingness, I yearned for the can of Heinz's Four Cheese sauce I had bought at King Soopers for $1.49 earlier this week. The sausage was fine, but it screamed for something to give it some support. It was not strong enough to carry the dish. I ended up covering the dish with stale Parmesan and red pepper flakes hoping to ease the sausage's burden as best I could.
I passed on the bread, but it looked like it had all the character of texas toast. Butter and margarine were supplied on the side in little plastic bins.
The wine list was quite affordable, and my companion enjoyed the merlot, which was a very fair $5.00 for a glass filled to the brim. His comment was it was too bad they didn't add some of it to the sauce!
We didn't stay for dessert, but the list of pies and sundaes, with ice cream made on the premises, looked promising, but honestly, we just couldn't stand anymore disapointments.
Ragu on wonderbread. – It is cheap, but soooo bland. It was crowded, but so is a WWF match. I didn't see any Italians there. If you want a cheap meal, it's OK.
Go back again and again!! – I have been going to Dino's for years. If you want great Italian food at a great price, then this is the place to go. The homemade noodles are awesome and the sausage pizza is a must have. Dino's proves that a place doesn't have to be fancy to serve up a great lunch or dinner.
Some things shouldn't change too much – Like so many of the others, I have eaten at Dino's since it was just a take out place. The pizza is good and the sausage sandwich is the best. When I think of home ( I moved away 20 years ago) I think of Dino's! Going back is always a great time!
comfort food – I grew up eating Dino's food and my grandfather is a friend of Dino and his daughter. This food is amazing and the salad dressing is to die for litterally!! It is nice to know I can go to a resteraunt for 30 years and the food is consistant and delicious!
Don't be fooled by the first revue – I think its unfair that Suz has a problem with resturaunts that offer smoking and judges everything else negatively on that basis. Dono's is a neighborhood institution and if it wasn't of the highest quality in terms of food and service Dino wouldn't have been around serving the best pizza on the planet for 40 years!
