2 thumbs up. took my vehicle here after experiencing unwelcoming, rude, brusque, inattentive treatment from a local dealership. The staff at Merrill Auto Electric was extremely courteous to me and every customer who came through the door. I saw several return customers who were greeted by name which says it all. The mechanic discussed several options as well as actually showing me what he found prior to any work being done. I noticed an immediate difference in the performance of my vehicle once I left. Thank you again. I was so please with the service, I have referred several friends there since my visit. View Less … View More
thank you Merrill. Merrill Electric is a rare find in today's auto repair industry. I have had bad experiences across the city with both dealers and small shops and Merrill is a breath of fresh air. The kept me up to date throughout the repair (brakes and oil change) and also took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my car in terms I could understand. At no point did I feel anything but MY best interest was being served. Jamie, shop manager, was absolutely fantastic as well as the technician who did the repair. I could not recommend a shop more. GIVE THESE GUYS A CALL. View Less … View More
Excellent, highly ethical customer service. My son was having starting problems with his Intrigue; he is a college student 1,000 miles away from me, and I helped him find a place to get it fixed. Merrill was extremely responsive and helpful. The problem with the car was very minor, but they found it so quickly they didn't even charge for it. We all know they could have found a way to make the problem seem bigger and charge a lot of money for it. But Merrill showed that they know what they are doing and are an ethical service provider. Merrill Auto Electric is excellent!!. I highly recommend Merrill Auto Electric. I have finally found a knowlegeable, professional and very honest, place to bring all my car repairs. They gave me a detailed explanation of the repairs that needed to be done to my car and why and a very close estimate of the final cost, no suprises here! They fixed problems other shops could not. They all were very professional and courteous. I would highly recommend Merrill Auto Electric, they are great! View Less … View More
An Auto Repair Nightmare.
Stay away from Merrill Auto Electric. These guys are very, very good at ripping off unsuspecting people. I recently took my automobile to
them on a recommendation from another mechanic. It was a very expensive mistake on my part. My headlights didn't work properly and I was of the belief that it was something that $100 (or less) could fix. I was very wrong. After agreeing to a diagnostic charge, I waited to hear what they had to say. Apparently, the initial diagnostic turned up the fact that there needed to be further diagnostic tests, which cost me more money. When they finally found the problem I was told that it needed a $100 part and about 2 more hours to fix it. Then they broke the ignition cylinder when they were repairing my car and had to have a locksmith repair it, which added a few days to the repair. To add insult to injury they charged me the $75 that the locksmith charged to fix the item that THEY broke (they said that the lock cylinder was worn out, but it was working fine when I took the car to them).
Here is the overview of what they do: They work on your car initially, disassembling various items. Then they incrementally get you to agree to more and more items, representing that they are very close to solving the problem. When they actually find the problem, they misquote (on the low side, of course) the cost for repair. Finally, when you pick up the car, they present you with a bill that is far and away more than you ever thought possible.
My advice: Avoid these guys like the plague. They are crooks, dishonest criminals that will lie and cheat to make a few bucks.
