Tips for Student Movers

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. UNPROFESSIONAL MOVERS AND STAFF. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Please note, this is a company owned by Buehler. At first, I refrained from writing such a negative review since at the end of the day, most of what I needed was moved and nothing was broken. But, after signing off on the paper work for a certain amount, I was charged extra without being notified.

I moved on 8/31/2012. The extra charge hit my credit card on 09/10/2012. As of today, I have left two message for Ron (the manager or so I'm told) and have not heard back by phone or email.

My movers were scheduled to come between 8 and 9:30 on Friday, August 31st. 9:30 came and went, so I called and was told the guys were on their way.

They had trouble finding the building, though they did arrive around ten. I had two guys moving me from a third floor one-bedroom apartment to a first floor one-bedroom apartment in the same building. Brad was great, friendly and unfortunately, did the brunt of the work, I have to exclude him from the negative comments.

His partner, however, George, reeked of marijuana and looked completely dazed. Whle I recognize that George was trying to be friendly, he repeatedly asked me if I was seeing/dating anyone and wanted to know where I hung out in my free time. I did nothing to encourage this behavior and he didn't pick up on my not responding--kept hounding the issue. He also asked me how much my new apartment costs and then tried giving me and my mother business cards for his uncle's landscaping business. Are you kidding me?!! Needless to say those were thrown in the trash.

Once again, Brad did a great job of packing things. George kept standing there trying to talk to me and my mother. George wouldn't listen when I told him that I needed the furniture and boxes moved and to not bother with the things that hadn't been boxed, I planned on moving those on my own. After two hours, I told them they were done, signed the receipt and bid them on their way.

Today, I spoke with Tammy (I believe) in accounting. She had trouble explaining why four hours instead of two were on my receipt. I signed off on two and their quote indicated I would pay a fuel surchage and $94/per hour. The guys only worked for two hours and I did not agree to pay for lunch and this wouldn't have been an issue had they shown up on time.

I have now contacted my credit card company and am going through them to handle the dispute since when I do get someone on the line, they are unable to help me and I keep being transferred to someone who doesn't return my messages.

Excellent Moving Experience!. We selected Student Movers based on their Better Business Bureau rating (A+), good reviews, and very competitive cost. They lived up to all of it!

We had a Pod to move all of our belongings, but needed the manpower to get everything in it and secured correctly. Rob M and Chris M were fast, knowledgeable, and polite. I even saw Rob running back for one of the last items at the end of the move. It took them at least an hour less than I thought it would. Great job and thanks for your hard work!

Great moving experience. I helped my sister move and she selected Student Movers to transport her belongings. They were on time, friendly, outgoing, and very polite. They moved quickly, and helped her arrange her furniture at her new place! They even remembered something and came back to make one last move for her so she wouldn't have to do it!

We had Matt P., Jesus and Aldon, and we would recommend them to anyone looking to utilize friendly, efficient and affordable movers. They made our moving day experience much easier! Great job, and keep up the good work!

Outstanding Move by Student Movers. We are career military, and this was our 19th move in 30 years. Throughout our career, the military provided excellent movers, who were paid top dollar for our moves, and in general, they went well. I retired recently, and this was the first move that we had to pay for on our own, and we were concerned. We got quotes from several companies, and ended up going with Student Movers of Denver. We worked with Rich the estimator, and Rich sent out a top notch team lead by Mike Reilly.

I don't exaggerate when I say that Mike and his team are the best we have had in 30 years of moving. They were very smart, very efficient, strong, very honest, and provided the best move we have had, period, dot. The key, in my opinion, is that they hire college students during their summer break (but not just local summer breaks, as our team was from Europe), NOT convicts out on parole.

Student Movers of Denver earned my strongest personal recommendation.... they are awesome, and the best in the business that I have ever seen in 30 plus years of hard moves. It is never easy to move, but these guys really rocked! Who knows what kind of experience we might have had with other local movers, but I seriously doubt it could have been any better. If you need to move locally, call Rich at Student Movers of Denver, and ask for Mike to lead the team... you won't be disappointed.

Student Movers. Student Movers has delivered and picked up expensive furniture, rugs, etc. at the home that I manage. They always call before coming, arrive on time, handle all pieces carefully and conduct themselves with high professionalism. I will use them personally when I relocate soon.

A Great Experience. We recently sold our townhouse in Cherry Creek and put most of our possesions in storage, but needed to take to enough with us to our our furnished rental in Denver that would have required many many trips in our SUV and more time than we had. We contracted Student movers and it ended up being a great decision

They scheduled our job when it was convenient for us (only two days later) and the guys showed up on time, were professional and friendly, conscientious, and even though the job was billed by time were quick and efficient. I would absolutely use them again.

Bad moving experience. We hired Student Movers to pack ABF U-pack trailers for a move from Denver to Atlanta and partially pack the remaider of our household goods into boxes for the move. They did a good job packing up the household goods into boxes, but did a horrible job of packing the trailers for the move. When the trailers were unloaded at our Atlanta house many items were damaged due to poor loading of the truck. Our formal dining room table legs were shattered due to Student Movers loading boxes on top of the table and our couch was torn and damaged since they did not cover it with furniture pads.

We hired another company in Atlanta to unload the trailers and they said it was the worst loading of a trailer they had ever seen by another company.

When we contacted Student Movers for just the base coverage on the broken and damaged goods they would not even pay the base insurance coverage provided with the move.

I would never recommend this company even to my worst enemy!

I don't see my change back!!!. We used them for moving into our new house two month ago. I told them our apartment were small and we were gonna move a lot of the small things by ourselves. We did 6 car loads on our own so that we could save because we are house poor. Nonetheless, on the day of our move, they sent in a huge truck. Our stuff filled less than 1/3 of that truck. Packing took 1.5 hours. It took another 45 to 60 minutes to drive up to the north. Then unloading is another hour. By the time they are done, the bill was 480, which was not bad for professional movers, I guess. I made another mistake that I didn't feel comfortable pre-authorizing an unknown amount on my credit card the day before the move, so I told the dispatcher that I would pay cash. I gave them five 100-dollar bills. The movers took for granted that the change would be their tips. They didn't bother to give me any change back. When I finally asked, they simply said, they didn't carry any change. Man, that was some sense of entitlement. In this economy, we are hurting, too! Not just you! I called their company office right away. The guy promised they would cut me a check. Till today I don't see nothing in my mailbox.

Wonderful Experience!. These guys were great! They were prompt, super fast and very professional. We definitely got our money's worth- I have heard horror stories about movers but these guys were nothing but pros. They did not try to milk their time even though they are paid hourly- they were very speedy and efficient so we got the best deal. I will be using them again the next time we move and would recommend them to anybody.
