DO NOT STAY HERE. This is a strong recommendation: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Its a filthy, rundown place with terrible management. No matter what they say about their "new management" or "remodeling", it's still a dump and operated by the same people. They have old, used Salvation Army type sheets, mattresses and lumpy pillows, a toilet paper shortage (maybe it's because they don't clean or go into the bathrooms very often?), a nasty kitchen and a couldn't care less attitude. Skip it.
Terrible. I actually had to call the Denver Police on the manager of the Hostel of the Rocky Mountains. I was accused of lodging there for longer than I had actually stayed. The hostel in Boulder is much nicer with a staff full of kind and considerate people. If you can avoid it, plz do NOT stay at this particular hostel in Denver. There are some hotels that have competitive rates just outside of the downtown Denver area.
DO NOT EVER STAY AT THIS HOSTEL.
I REPEAT, and I'm sorry about the all caps, but I feel that strongly about this, DO NOT EVER, EVER STAY AT THIS HOSTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was physically attacked by the owner (who was drunk) and had to call the police on him in able to get my stuff and get my money back. The bathrooms were filthy, hell, everywhere was filthy. Many of the other people staying there were transients, not travelers. The staff was drunk and surly. (Not Hawaii tho', he was the only decent moment in a horror of a stay, him and the free computer.). There are other, cheaper, cleaner, not run by a drunk, violent idiot hostels within a few blocks. Go to one of those.
An old-fashioned hostel offering dorm-style accommodations in the heart of Denver..
The Scene
This is the place for budget travelers seeking a cheap, basic bed-and-breakfast experience. It is for those who don't need a lot of privacy, and who would rather spend their time and money exploring the city. It makes a great base for touring, as it is within walking distance to many major Denver hot spots.
The Details
Guests can choose from four-bedroom dorm rooms (78 beds total) and seven private rooms. While the accommodations are basic, they are also clean, which is a plus considering the prices. Amenities include a community TV, coin laundry and snack machines.
