Downing Street Garage

Very Overpriced. I stupidly signed paperwork that I would pay $110 even if they didn't do any work, even though I knew the problem was a loose heat shield on the exhaust, and wanted them to replace the rear brake pads.

They called me 3 hours later with a quote of $840 for the rear brakes (saying I needed new rotors), and $120 to tack-weld the heat shield, or "about $60" to remove it. *I* could have removed it!! Out of curiosity, I asked what an oil change would cost -- $59!!! It's a 4-cylinder Subaru.

I paid the $110 ransom to retrieve my car and took it to the Subaru dealer -- $420 for brakes & rotor resurface (they did not need to be replaced, per Subaru specifications), and $25 for an oil chance (which is a pretty standard price!) They tacked the heat shield back for free. In short, Downing St Garage is a total ripoff. I paid $445 + the $110 I wasted at DSG for what DSG wanted over $1000. Downing St Garage is there for the people who live in Country Club North, and can't be bothered driving a few miles to save several hundred $$.…

An auto repair garage you can trust. I have depended on Downing Street Garage since before they moved to their current location. I trust their work and appreciate their attention to the customer. They make an effort to make everyone feel comfortable, male or female. They have always made good on any problems I have had. We all have a certain scepticism of auto repair shops and their pricing.
