Tips for Bob's Volvo SVC

August 14, 2012

Having lived in Denver since 2005, I have taken my 2000 Volvo XC to Bob’s since an unpleasant, financially gouging, and ultimately unnecessary service experience with local dealer Volvo Rickenbaugh.

Bob’s Volvo is local, small, and personal. Managed well with estimations of cost and vehicle return always spot-on, Bob’s has earned my loyalty through these and other professional and personal attributes. One of the personal qualities of the business is the pleasantness of the team. Be it 8 in the morning or 4.45 that afternoon, you’d never know Jason or his team expected to have, or had, a long, tiring, day by their attitudes.

While welcoming to those who do, Jason doesn’t expect his customers to know the engineering and system details of their cars and so he is brings his warmth to easy to understand explanations of cause and cure. Taking questions and concerns in stride, the repair experience at Bob’s is stress free. Bob’s has always practiced transparency and in the years I have worked with Jason, he is always amenable to discuss options and repair/maintenance priorities.

While no one expects service shops to delight in causing stress based on the news of the financial costs of repair work, Bob’s is all the more empathetic than most in that they always have a safe Plan B to get you toward Plan A. You can also be assured that if the repair(s) are immediate needs, you will be told that. Communication at Bob’s is clear and consistent.

If you are looking for a dependable, honest, and pleasant service experience you can do no better than Jason and his staff. Their professionalism and quality of repair – I have never had to return for a ‘do over’ in all the years I have been going – is second only to their commitment to providing you with customer service free of pressure or jargon.

Establish yourself at Bob’s and you can expect more life out of your car and less worry for you when the times come for maintenance or repair.

Just had a really good experience working with Jason at Bob's Volvo Svc. I took my 1986 Volvo 240 in because it had been stalling out in warmer weather. I ended up having my in-tank fuel pump replaced for about 200 dollars less than some other shops had quoted me in town for parts and labor. I would highly recommend this shop. Fair, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their business card indicated they also specialize in Honda and Subaru as well.

Great Volvo Service!. My 940 would not start...plain and simple. It had been be dealer maintained since it was bought in 1994 and is a great car with 200,000+ miles. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive not having the dealer look at it. I found Bob's Volvo online and it was close to my house (good deal, because the 940 had to be towed).

I made the appointment...the experience was great. The starter needed to replaced-not only once--but twice--the new starter was defective and Jason put a new one on...hassle free.

The service was outstanding and the cost of repairs were so reasonable. I highly recommend this shop for your Volvo repairs.

A+++++. I had engine issues with my 2005 Volvo. Not living in the Denver area, I had to rely on other's comments listed on this website.

Jason & his staff at Bob's Volvo deserves an A+ times 10!!!

They were super nice, helpful, efficient & thier costs compared to others were extremely reasonable. Being that I was not local, he sent an email explaining what was wrong with pictures, etc. What other Auto Shop would take time out of their day to do that?

When it was time to pick up my car, he saved all parts & explained in detail what was fixed.

I highly recommend Bob's Volvo for service on any car that they work on.

Business with a smile!

Definitely will get all my business. My '91 volvo 740 wouldn't start. I had it towed to a AAA-recommended shop that diagnosed a bad engine computer, $1600 to repair (for a $1500 car!). I towed it to Bob's, where Jason confirmed the non-working engine computer, but then figured out how to patch in a ground that got it running perfectly for about $200 for diagnostics and labor. What other mechanic could or would have done that? Very impressive!

Best Experience I've ever had with an Auto Shop. I had people from all over the country fly in to Denver to meet me for a ski trip. On our way to Breckenridge, my car starts making very strange grinding and locking noises that sound like severe brake issues. It pained me, but it sounded like too much to risk going over the mountains, so I turned around, came home and started making calls. No one could get me in but everyone told me not to drive the car in the mountains. Finally, Jason (at Bob's Volvo) listened to my situation, told me to come right in and that he will get me some answers. He quickly inspected the car himself and put me at peace of mind. The sound was bad but the repair was minor. I was able to continue my family ski trip w/o missing a beat. A fairly urgent matter was quickly rectified by Bob's. Customer first all the way there! You can sense their integrity right away. I wish they had something comparable in the Parker area but I will make the hike to Colfax every time I have a Volvo issue.

Big time thanks Jason and Lin!!

Great service.. I took my Volvo in for a brake repair and a scheduled 90k service, and learned a lot about my car in the process. Jason (the owner) spoke about the disservice Volvo is doing their customers by suggesting some fluid replacements in too long of intervals, or not at all (transmission!!) I feel confidant now with my car taken care of it will last way past 100k miles. It's truly a family business, with Marcus (Jason's brother), Lynn (his cousin) and Vern - also related by marriage. I was pleased to find out they'll also perform maintainence on my Subaru and my son's Toyota as well! Why should I go anywhere else!

If you're looking for a shop to take your Volvo, this is it!. I had a small oil drip on my 2001 S60 that I could not pinpoint. I am usually a DIY-person although I'm new to owning a Volvo. I spoke with Jason early in the week and was able to get an appointment quickly that met my schedule. The oil leak was confirmed as the turbo return oil line which is common on volvo turbos. Inexpensive parts and minimal labor. They even replaced a missing seal where the plug goes into the oil pan for no charge. The seal was neglected courtesy of Big O tires. Total cost $103 and they even washed the plastic protective cover under the engine!

Bob's Volvo also checked my timing belt and recommended some other preventive maintenance which is in line with what I know the car will need. I hope my review helps you decide on a shop to entrust your car maintenance to. Research your car's symptoms on the web so you can talk knowledgably about them and then you'll feel comfortable about having Bob's Volvo perform the service.

This place is great... I really recommend you to take your volvo... youll be surprised. Well I am new to this city. I just bought this old 91 volvo 740 Turbo and I start having what it looked like a really bad problem since it was running and then it will just die. I was afraid to take it to a volvo place and people taking advantage since I had an old car. I decided to took it to Bobs Volvo since it had a good rate on the internet, but I still kind of afraid. I was SURPRISED about the service, the price and solution they gave me to get my car fixed. This persons where honest, on-time, and the best was the service for the price it cost. I really recommend this place.

Friendly, Honest, Helpful. I have a Volvo with over 200,000 miles & will credit Bob's once it gets to 300,000. Jason, (who I think is the owner) is wonderful, and very aboveboard in advising what sort of repairs are necessary, or optional. As a student on a tight budget, I really appreciate his candor, & all the repairs that Bob's has done has helped sustain a well-used car without costing too much money (at least for a foreign vehicle).
