The meat in the center was like jelly. I returned the uncooked part to the kitchen for repair and took the time to visit the restroom. When I returned I had to stop the bus staff and retreive my plate, which they had picked up in error. A few minutes later, a server came by the table and tried to take my plate again, even though I was sitting with it and still had food to eat. When my fish was finally returned, it had been over-cooked, and had lost all flavor. I assume the chef was not happy with me for returning it. For desert, the Key Lime Pie was quite lackluster. The graham cracker crust had no flavor. The filling was quite good, with a very strong lime flavor, but was so cold it seemed to have been in a freezer.
Awesome Happy Hour. Great Happy Hour. You can get a great glass of wine for $3-5 and all drafts are 2.50. Best lunch menu, try the chicken sandwich.
For the price, I'd go elsewhere. Longer wait than I would have thought for a weeknight several hours after local offices have closed. The food was good, but for the price and the portions, I'd go elsewhere. I've given this place a try twice now -- there are many great places to eat in the Tech Center area so I don't think I'll be back.
Great Dinner on the Patio!. My husband and I had dinner here last Sat. night. Reservations are not needed, it was pretty dead for a Sat. night but I'm guessing it is more popular during the week and at lunch since it is located in the Tech Center. We sat outside since it was such a nice night but the inside of the restaurant looked beautiful. Our waiter was great and answered all of our questions about the menu. We started out with the lobster dumplings. They were good but couldn't really tell they were lobster. Our dinner was fabulous. My husband had the burger which he loved and I had the short stack of ribs. They were fabulous! Cooked just right and had a very tasty sauce on them. The short stack is actually an appetizer but was plenty of food for me, my husband even had one or two pieces and it was still filling. It also came with some cole slaw. You can order the full stack with fries and cole slaw but I would imagine you would have tons of left overs. I was a little hesitant going here after reading the reviews but we had a very nice experience and would definately go back! (P.S. I am stayin "stack" of ribs because it won't let me use the "r" word, haha!)
Pretty Good Food. Kinda Pricey.. The foods good, especially at dinner. Nice atmosphere. The lunch menu is a little skimpy. Slightly upscale (price-wise).
Mediocre at best. Went with co-workers for lunch... mediocre service and very mediocre food with a fairly high price tag. My guess is that the prime DTC location drives business because it can't possibly be the meals. I won't return.
good food. I came here on a Friday night after spending happy hour at Cool River across the street. We had dinner in the bar area. Customer service was good. We split a plate of ribs and the waitress even pre-split the plate out for us which was very convenient. The ribs were fantastic. The house salad was okay but nothing fantastic. The bar area was actually pretty empty after 8pm so service was pretty quick. Prices are a little steep for a "tavern" but not out of the ordinary for the DTC area. I had thought there would at least be sandwiches or things of that nature on the menu that could be had for a little cheaper, but they really only had entrees priced in the upper teens into the twenties.
A lively cure for office drudgery: Grab lunch or a drink at this DTC staple..
In Short
Designed to capture the feel of the Great Northern Railway, the handcrafted mahogany bar and a railroad posters help, as this two-room restaurant, equipped with comfortable brown leather booths, an open kitchen and contemporary lighting, provides an inviting DTC setting for a healthy lunch and after-work crowd. Expect American-inspired cuisine with flair.
Good wedding reception. I had my wedding reception at the Great Northern. The service was just spectacular, and the food was outstanding. I received many compliements from my guests. Another bonus--I wasn't charged for the room, just a flat rate per guest. Furthermore, they didn't charge me for my no-shows. I couldn't have asked for more.
