Rubi -no's. Super expensive for the amount of food. Taste was good except it was like eating mini tacos for $2.00 a piece. And it took a rather long time, at least 10 minutes for an unbusy staff, no-one-in-line order. Skip this place!
The flavors of the Baja have a home north of the border with this fast-food fish-taco restaurant..
In Short
After years of traveling to Baja California and enjoying fish tacos at beachside stands, Ralph Rubio opened his first restaurant in San Diego in 1983, banking on the south-of-the-border favorite. Today, Rubio's are located throughout the Southwest serving tacos, burritos salads and more. Baja-style fish tacos are the specialty--beer-battered Alaskan Pollack, cabbage and salsa in a soft corn tortilla. Street tacos (carnitas, carne asada, chicken), quesadillas, nachos and taquitos are other popular options.
Great quesadillas and tacos. I love Rubio's and eat there at least once a week. I've tried lots of stuff on their menu, and love the ultimate quesadillas, the chicken and beef tacos, and chicken burrito. The only thing I haven't liked was the fish taco, which is a specialty (but it's fried fish). The lobster taco was pretty good. Fast service. Good guac. The tacos have soft corn tortillas, although you can request flour.
