In Short
Modeled after the famed London pub, this place is wood-paneled, darkly lit and homey, with a long brass rail from the London site. Allegedly, the pub was the first establishment to have satellite dishes for sports programming, earning the distinction "America's first" sports bar. The fish-and-chips are exceptional: lightly breaded halibut served with a pale-ale tartar sauce. Or there's the signature burger, a half-pound of charcoal-grilled beef topped with thick-cut bacon and tangy jalapeno cheese.

We have gone there as a group every Sunday night for dinner and jazz music. The last time, we got horribly burned quesadillas, burned to charcoal. when we told the waitress, she very snottily said "that is the way they're supposed to be" and walked away. We know what burned is; we have ordered those dozens of times. I'm not sure we'll go back, and if we do, it won't be for food.

My family has been visiting this restaurant since it opened. My Dad went on his first date with my mother here. We visit on a weekly basis and I often bring friends in for Happy Hour and to introduce them to the neighboorhood pub. Lately the service has not been great and in today's world, customer service is important. Tonight we went to celebrate my brother's graduation from High School. Unfortunately, we had poor service from start to finish. Our server started off by telling us that the drinks we ordered had to made a certain way. We stated, "the bartender is used to our drink order and does a great job at making them." She then told us that she is usually the bartender and tonight she was serving 'unfortunately because someone couldn't find a babysitter.' We knew right off the bat she was having a bad night. After our food came out, we noticed we were out of ketchup. We asked if we could get some more and were told "no problem." Several minutes passed with no server in sight. My Dad decided to ask the next table to borrow ketchup before the burgers were cold. The server scolded him for asking saying "sir, your ketchup is coming your server is really busy." Yikes! To finish it out, our bill was incorrect and our server proceeded to argue with us over it. I hope that the service will improve here or that 'management' will find a better team of servers!

First, let me explain that I brew beer and consider myself relatively knowledgeable on the subject. I'm not a professional brewmaster, however. With that in mind, I think the beer they serve at this place is just plain bad. I ordered their ESB and it had so much diacetyl contamination that it tasted like I was eating a rotted stick of butter. Their pale ale suffered from the same problems, but to a lesser extent. Diacetly is common in ales, but the levels in these beers were WAY over those I would consider acceptable. If I had brewed this beer, it would have gone stright down the drain. This type of defect can be caused by bacterial/fungal contamination in the fermenters or high fermentation temps and no 'rest' period to allow the yeast to consume the diacetyl (i.e.: rushing the beer to the glass before its time). The service here was also terrible. We met some friends here on a Friday afternoon and our waitress was slow, inattentive and rude. She actually had the nerve to bring us the check and, before anyone asked, she stated in a very condescending tone that she wouldn't split the bill because everyone was 'swapping' beers all night. In reality, none of us swapped beers, so I can only assume she was upset that some of us had multiple different varieties. Her general lack of customer service was frightening. I'm typically a heavy tipper at 20%+, but this girl was lucky if she got 5% from the table because others were so offended. I ate the fish & chips, which was OK, but tasted like it had come from the freezer section at Walmart. The taste was comparable to Mrs. Paul's fish sticks. Certainly not 'the best fish and chips in Denver', as they advertise. More like TV dinner-quality. Overall I was disappointed and will not return to this joint. Bad beer, poor customer service and mediocre food sums up my experience. I hope this review saves someone out there from the disappointment we experienced.
