I just rented for the first time with Payless, on a trip to Denver. I can't praise them enough. I did work to set everything up inn advance, and joined their frequent renter program (run specifically out of Denver; this is different than the larger company one program), and sent in my d/l and credit card information in advance. Billy, their manager, was simply excellent. When I arrived (although the shuttle van was a bit less frequent than some of the others)--the very courteous shuttle driver (who asked whether I needed maps or directions) took me right to the car, and basically all I had to do was initial, start the car, and drive off. Everything was ready. The manager gave an upgrade (the car had only 2500 miles on it!), the rate was incredibly good, and the car ran like a dream for the whole trip. Returning the car was just as much a breeze: no hitches. I will gladly rent from them again.
Pros: excellent customer service; tremendous value; great car
Cons: slightly less frequent shuttle service
