Perfect date night. First of all, don't go for lunch. Not that the lunch buffet is bad, necessarily, but it's not anywhere near as good as dinner. Save your lunch money and go 5 doors down to Luceros for the best chicken and potato burrito EVER.

Anyway, I digress...

First of all you MUST dine-in. Takeout just isn't the same without the atmosphere. The dining room is decorated with elaborately cut mahogany panels, deep jewel tone colors, gold accents here and there, and interesting murals depicting Indian life. Dinner at Jewel is just beyond comparison...as soon as you sit down you are warmly welcomed with crispy, still-warm papadums and a delicious assortment of chutneys. This, alone, is enough for a light lunch for me! Try every single one of the chutneys, they are all fabulous! Be sure to order a basket of garlic naan while you peruse the lengthy menu. Don;t hesitate to ask questions. The servers are very knowlegable and while a few of them are difficult to understand they are all incredibly warm and friendly. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order, but I especially recommend the chicken biryani, (a seasoned rice dish made with coconut, raisins, and saffron) or the mixed Tandoori. Actually anything from the tandoor is succulent...perfectly spiced and marinated to attain that trademark magenta color! But the mixed grill is the best way to try everything including Mahi, tender lamb, and mouthwatering chicken....easily enough to share! Your dinner will arrive with sides including mixed fruit in a type of ambrosia, a nice refreshing compliment to the heady spices. Fragrant, genuine basmati (as opposed to cheap plain white rice found in some lesser restaurants) just takes the tandoori meats over the top. End your meal with a cup of creamy chai or a mango lassi, and you will surely achieve Nirvana. Plan at least an hour and a half, or you will miss out on the best part of a meal at Jewel...the pure indulgence of lingering over a multi-course supper at an Applebee's price.

Mmm... Jewel. I love this restaurant. I go at least once a week. The food is delicious, and the service is amazing. I have occasionally gotten a waiter who is less than friendly, but almost everyone who works there is chipper and helpful. I recommend the Chicken Tikka.

I'm a foodie...and it's the BEST. I've honestly never written a review, but I enjoy their food so much I felt as if I just HAD to let the world know! I've lived all over the country and have eaten Indian food in many different cities, but I never thought I would've found my favorite resturant in a strip mall in Westminster. You just gotta check this place out. The dining room takes you on a mini-vacation, but they won't sneer at you if you place an order to go. This place is a gem. Don't cheat yourself - JUST GO!!!

BEST place for either buffet or dinner!. This is my favorite Indian Restaurant in Denver. Buffet is constantly renewed with fresh food, and the variety is so vast. Dinner is just amazing, service may slow down during busy hours, but its understandable because of the how busy this place becomes! My Wife and I LOVE this place and come here atleast once a week. For anyone hesitating on trying this place out, try the buffet and you will be hooked!

The food is getting worse. Don't waste your money , the quality of the food is getting worse , i found stale food in the buffet .

Be aware on this ... look for better alternative

Best Indian food in colorado. I love this resturaunt it is my very favorite. The owner is generally on the premises, that says something for the quality control. You can control the spiciness of you dish. I love the coconut chicken. The chai has gotten a little weak over the years but the naan and somosas (I prefer the meat) are sensational.

Our favorite Indian buffet. We've tried a number of Indian restaurants in the metro Denver area (Bombay Clay Oven, Little India, India House, Namaste and Taste of India to name a few), but this is our favorite. We've never been there for dinner, b/c it's too hard to pass up the variety in the lunch buffet. I've looked at the dinner menu, though, and the prices are much more reasonable than dinner menus at other Indian restaurants. (For example, Bombay Clay Oven - dinner prices are a joke at $18-$24, but I think it's just b/c of it's location in Cherry Creek. Still, we were highly disappointed in the dinner at Bombay - we could've gone to Mel's, which is now closed, for the same price.) Even at lunch, Jewel of India's bread is made-to-order (with lots of butter!), not placed on the buffet line like most places. Jewel of India is our favorite, b/c the flavoring and spicing is the best we've had. Also, the variety of offerings at lunch are better than any other Indian lunch buffet we've visited. Most places have the same things (pakora, daal, Saag Paneer, tandoori, tica masaala, the cauliflower/potato dish with curry, rice pudding, mango pudding), but Jewel offers things we never see elsewhere (i.e. eggplant tandoori, shrimp vindaloo, ground lamb with peas & spices, mutab paneer, which is like saag but just with peas instead of spinach). We just don't need to go anywhere else, and luckily, it's close to our house. Sure, the service isn't that great at lunch, but what does one expect at a buffet? It's not like they have to do much. The only bothersome thing is that before the highly favorable review in Westword, the lunch buffet price was $8; nothing in service, quality or variety changed, but immediately after the review in Westword came out, the price went up to $9. We were annoyed at the obvious greed at first, but not enough to not go back. We were just there today!

ordinary, at best. the food is very ordinary. the waiters are always hovering all around you like bees. they are adamant to get you to order dessert even if you do not want to. overall, i have had much better indian food at other places.

Authentic Indian food without the ridiculous prices!. I grew up eating authentic indian food and my search for a place in denver came to an end when I found the Jewel of India. I had been to many other indian places here in Denver (House of India, Bombay Clay Oven and Little India) and while these places have decent indian food i don't understand how they have the audacity to charge between $17-24 a platter? The food, atmosphere, service and prices at the Jewel are amazing; i highly recommend the chicken tikka masala or the boti saag it is very traditional.

Experienced Indian cuisine consumer says -. As a journalist who travels around the country (and occasionally to foreign countries), I have had the chance to try a wide range of Indian food restauarants. I can tell you that the food at Jewel of India is not only authentic - but simply superb! I usually eat dinner there and on a rare occasion have the lunch buffet. Dinner is fantastic! The lunch buffet is also very good. I recommend the Chicken Ticca Masala and the Saag is also great! The service is excellent and the decor is very pleasant. The management takes care to make sure the buffet is stocked and fresh. At dinner, the staff and management do an excellent job of making sure your dining experience is what you hope for. I have never been disappointed with a meal from Jewel of India.... as for the one and only one poor review I have read here, it sounds like it was written from a competing restaurant! Because, unless there is an alternate universe somewhere, I have never had an experience even somewhat resembling what this person has written and I have eaten at Jewel of India NUMEROUS times... Go there, eat, and enjoy!!!
