Editorial Review for Hiwan Homestead Museum – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
The Native American artifacts and influence at Hiwan include a sterling silver communion set made by the Navajo, Hopi healing tiles inset in one of the fireplaces and Navajo yei paintings in the dining room. The main structure is a 17-room log lodge built by Jock Spence. Little of the furniture is original, but it is of the period, including a buffalo horn chair used by Chief Red Cloud of the Oglala Lakota.
